I see nothing wrong with referring to a video umpire in very difficult decisions such as this. The umpires couldn't agree between them, so had they referred to the video, it would've been cleared up immediately. Hey i dont know why people are saying the umpires are shit... the fieldy made exactly the right desicions. Firstly, the ball has to be KICKED out, not handpassed, even if the umpire called play on, the player still has to kick it out.
Secondly, the umpie thought the ball had been touched before it was kicked in, so he held a conference with the goal umpire, however the goalie was 100% certain that it went through cleanly so the fieldie went with it. Fair call.

Hey i dont know why people are saying the umpires are shit... the fieldy made exactly the right desicions. Firstly, the ball has to be KICKED out, not handpassed, even if the umpire called play on, the player still has to kick it out.
Secondly, the umpie thought the ball had been touched before it was kicked in, so he held a conference with the goal umpire, however the goalie was 100% certain that it went through cleanly so the fieldie went with it. Fair call.

i switched from afl to rubgy union because of this crap. The umpires, the commentators and the afl board shuld be sacked over the fiasco i just watched. it's a disgrace to australia. you used to be able to have a punch up and then get on with the game. deal with the consequences afterwards at the pub.

if a soccer player gets thrown to the ground or tripped up or whatever, then they're basically finished for the game. an afl player is expected to get back up and run at full pace.
Soccer is for pussys.
AFL is for a man.

The umpire was right with the ball up, but the free kick was soft. They shouldn't be able to all clear a goal and give a free kick straight in front.
Anyway, Richmond Tigers started the fight. The umpires should've been concerntrating on the fight not on the goal otherwise Luke Power could've been king hit and the umpires would'nt know.
