@Schnikerdoodle No guarantee for that. Perhaps, perhaps not - it all depends on your use, placement of the x-box etcetera. The only thing I do know is that it diminishes the awful sound on the earlier x-box models. I would not depend on it to eliminate the possibility of the RROD, although if you run the fans in high speed at all times, it does cool down the box fairly well.
@emkay1987 Oh I can't remember now. It's been a year now and I've gotten myself a new Arcade, but it was one of the first. It might have been a Falcon but I'm not sure, sorry.
I'm not sure I understand your question completely, but I have it running on 12v always without having had any problems whatsoever. 12v is like the "max" drive the xbox had before - 5v is for either DVD use or for "gradual build-up" if you know what I mean. So 12v mode is fine - my box is staying rather cool by using it exclusively...
@mfiorentino No matter where you take power from it will affect the whole board. i just depends on how many watts you are using. so it really doesnt matter if you take it from the DVD drive or not.
I just installed it right now and Im not even getting close to those results. Its like 5% quieter then stock (running at 5v). Shocking you got those results. Then again your stock fan sounds like a jet plane for some reason. Thought mine was bad.
In order to install games on the hard drive you need the New Xbox Experience, or NXE.
First, put your game in the drive. If it autoruns, just hit the Xbox Guide button and press Y to go back to the dashboard.Go to My Xbox - it should show you the game that you have. Press the Y button to go to Game Details. There should be an option to install the game. You do the same thing to uninstall it.
Remember that you still need the DVD in the drive while playing the game.
Thanks for making this video. It's been very helpful. I'd been debating getting a Whisper fan, 'cause the stock fan I got is REALLY loud--just like yours. I honestly don't find the DVD drive noise that bad... Anyway, I think you've convinced me to spend an extra twenty-something dollars on my Xbox 360.
On an off-topic note: Since I'm a total 360 n00b, how do you install games to the hard drive? I've just been playing off the disc so far.
Would these fans keep me from getting the RROD? Many thanks.
