I loved the movie but...she didn't really looked like a real native american. Her hair was not really black but more dark brown and her cheekbones weren't high.
And native's could make beautiful clothes and she wears rags.
@thecurledfreckle I have to disagree. I think it is incredibly beautiful and the pace is fine. It is understanding the artistry of the music, the movie, and the story as one collective piece. I love it.
Since my last comment I watched the movie again. Such a great movie. I enjoy it's pace and underlying themes. I read that another person watching this movie wished they could have lived in those times. I don't think they fully understand just how difficult the New World was and just how amazing a feat the occupation of America was. Whilst much pain comes to the indigenous people of places like America and Australia concerning these times, they were still the beginnings of 2 great nations!
@TheJc1980 So colonialism and imperialism are ok then. I believe violence solves nothing but if I had to choose then I personally believe that people like you, who try in some small way to justify the unjustifiable, really deserve to endure this "much pain" as you call it and certainly not the millions of innocent people around the world who have been made to do so.
I love this movie and I love this music. Once upon a time I may have said this movie was boring. But as a matter of fact this is probably one of my most watched movies.I have it on dvd and have seen it at least twenty times.I loved Dvorak's New World Symphony growing up and maybe it's just in the name but I think the composer was influenced by Dvorak. I love Terrence Malicks films and hope to see more.Thin Red Line kicked Saving Private Ryan and this was better.Hope others feel the same!
Beautiful music, reminds me of Howard Shore's "Breaking of the Fellowship" from first Lord of the Rings score. Especially around 5:48-6:15. In any case, it's lovely.
The music is great, the movie, well...is like a sleeping pill, waaaaay tooo sloooow, and waaay tooo booring. And the handheld camera shots are extremely annoying, and exhausting.
I think this is one of the best pieces James Horner ever did. Most of it isn't used in the movie and I know Horner was very angry with Malick for that. Their visions were totally apart and yet, somehow, in my opinion, they both did the greatest jobs of their respective careers with this project. I don't know how that's possible but I guess they both passionately believed in something.
Love this movie. Terrence Malick is a genious. Love all his movies especially "The Thin Red Line". But this one is awesome, too. Greetings from Germany
Very good movie... a bit more realistic than some, and the music fits the emotional and historic events that "lightly" come through in this Hollywood film.

Music's good, movie...not so much. It was simply too slow, and neither character was delved into enough. It just kind of happened...

Freckle, it's not your fault that your concentration span is completely raped by technologics and the media.
There was a time when humanity was serene, sensitive, finely attuned to nature and to the slightest human movement.
Terrence Malick is the only director who knows this.
