That's very cool. The easiest way I've found to animate Sketchup is to use Antics 3D. There's a video on here where a guy used Antics to get his sketchup robot walking around...I nearly fell off my chair when I saw that! Search for 'antics sketchup' there's loads on it. It's freeware too. Just drop your models into Antics, then pretty much point and click where you want them to move. I've spent hours in it.
