Another great piece, Matt! I'm envious! I will soon be finishing a small piece out of copper for someone, and it just makes me wish I had much more time to work on them. Your work is a big inspiration, man! And eight loops - woohoo!!!
@ttharold Thanks, Tom. I'd love to see some photos or video of your finished copper creation. Something like this can take me 3-4 weeks of almost full time work to complete. The loops look great don't they? I like how it turned out. :D
@motleymdg I hope to have some photos within the month. Video I am still not able to produce, at least nothing of redeemable quality. Thanks for the breakdown of your build time, that helps me feel a little better about my own progress. I was joking with my friend the other day that "working" on the sculpture (at that stage) involved staring at it for thrity minutes, bending one wire, and then staring for another thirty mintes. The tweaks can take forever!
@ttharold LOL! I do the same thing. Stare and stare for a while until I decide what to do, then go it....then more staring. Having a plan can reduce that thinking time... : ) But having a plan on a large sculpture is hard to conceptualize. Of course I do the same thing in a desktop and they are not complicated at all! Once your eyes glaze over though, it may be time to call it a day.
@motleymdg Oh, and, yes, the loops look great! I have done one set of loops, and it is hard to get them consistent. They work, but they don't look as even as yours. Nice job!
The RBS king does it once again.... Great work Matt, and I know what you mean... the slightest change in level and the whole thing operates differently - or not at all...
Do you just build a bubble level in the design...?
@ypaddave HAHAHAH! Yes, but now she has 5 (used to be) little kittens. With a purchase of a sculpture now...you get a free cat...woooo hoooo! Order now!
@motleymdg haha I'm sure you're joking, but I truly would if you let me. My dad has a welder lol. I often make my own marble mazes out of more fragile materials. I've always admired your rolling ball sculptures and kinetic artists in general.
@snakefaceproductionz Well, no. But I did want to be one when I was younger...too much math and not enough college. I'm more of a physics guy (at least that's what I tell myself!) : )
looks great btw the loops is 9 not 8 or did i add another loop somewhere/? lol cheers

Love seeing all of these RBS' in motion. I just love the smooth flow of movement, and your amazing craftsmanship.
