Actually it depends on the city you live in. Berlin has the advantage of being a very big city in comparison to others and therefore there are quarters where a lot of cultures meet because there are immigrants from over 130 countries. But then again in other (richer) quarters it is exactly the opposite.

Frankfurt is the most international city in Germany I think.

It may be hard to believe that Germany's multi-cultured, but take it from a person that's been to Germany, both former East and West Germany. I met the stereotypical Germans you are no doubt thinking of, but I also met Serbians, many Vietnamese, and former expatriates from everywhere and this was in both Eastern and Western Germany.

Also, Berlin is without a doubt a cosmopolitan and very modern city with a budding "hip hop" scene, very reminiscent of New York!
