the things that brian said in this video, like it was good, it felt good to be together again at my house, and his acknowledgement that the boys would play together again, did he mean all that? cause just a year or so later he dismissed the idea of working with mike love and a beach boys reunion ever again, and says that to this day.

Bruce is a very successful songwriter with or without the Beach Boys. "Tears In The Morning" and "Dierdre" are two of his finest contributions to the BB....and he made a killing with the hit he gave to Manilow

Its ironic that Mike Love, according to interviews is intersted in getting the band back together for their 50th anniversery, however Brian says not happening, and does not want to work with love again, sad.

I can hardly believe it. Mike Love actually ATTEMPTING to be HUMBLE. & what's more .. actually acknowledging the musical superiority of Brian Wilson .. right there, with BW beside him. Love's performance is still awkward & stumbling, tho, upon close scrutiny & several replays of the footage. This was June 2006 .. don't forget, BW was doing WONDERFUL THINGS with his brilliant new band .. SMILE in 04 + Lucky Old Sun on the way. So I think BW did his old band a MERE lip-service favour being there.

Why is everybody doing so stupid about Bruce Johnston not being a real Beach Boys member? Does those few years really count? Nobody argues about Ringo Star not being the first drummer for the Beatles?

Give Bruce some respect folks! He's a fulltime member for over 40 years!?!?

Bruce is a beach Boy, but so is David Marks. He may have played on more hits than Bruce....

He just wasn't a founder member, although he is definitely a full long time member despite leaving for a period int he 70's.

Agreed. Bruce is a full-fledged Beach Boy, no question. However, does anyone know if he was inducted in the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Beach Boys when they were inducted back in 1988? It seems to me that he might have been overlooked.

@MKent54997 any issue with Bruce comes from a quote where he said "the beach boys are just a business to me". but, he's also talked of how SMiLE was genius. and how the magic was lost when brian left. so he gets kudos for that.

@REDHAIREDMONSTER Bruce was inducted. But they overlooked David Marks- but later corrected that a couple of years ago. David Marks is an original. Bruce isnt.
