you know in the old days wen fed was young he had less competition as no one was at his standard until nadal came along with all respect to federer but Murray has to win a grand slam days in today's environment were there a lot more harder players such as Djokovic Nadal Tsonga I recon he could have easily won a grand slam in the days wen he was young.(I federer was not playing at the same time as Murray)
federer single handedly changed and improved the game of Tennis, like no other era he is truly the greatest player of all time. All the legends, with respect, would not stand a chance in todays game, and Roger is still arguably the best at 30!!!!
If all the legends were in their prime playing at the same time, federer would still be miles above all of them. Its my opinion but your doesnt count because i'm right and if you don't agree it's something personal you have against Roger.
@cdn19940804 'Course he did! Wimbledon 2006 & 2007.
As of 2011 December, Nadal leads their H2H 17 - 9, but majority of their matches have been on clay which is Nadal's best surface - he leads 12-2 on clay (including 2005,2006,2007,2008&2011 Roland Garros) , whilst Federer leads 2-1 on grass (lost Wimbledon 2008) and 4-0 on Indoor hard courts whilst Rafa leads 4-1 on outdoor hard courts ( including Australian Open2009) .
dnt understand when people say NADAL ERA i think federer will win more than 20 slams so he is not done.. but even so i think federer era was from 2003 to 2010 (last slam aus open 2010 and i am sure more to come..) 2011 is djoko era from start till date do can rafa fans tell me which was nadal era...i think nadal will end being a supportive role in federer era and then djoko - del potro era... i am already picking djoko to win more slams than nadal.. and del potro will win a lot more...
Man I feel bad for Roddick, he's lost 5 times in a grand sal final against Roger haha. I guess that's what happens when you play against GOD. Keep going Rodge, you're the best ever, you'll win majors again!
Ooops! My mistake. On second thought, perhaps it was the Aust. Open that Djokovic won against Rog. I'm sorry, my error. This video is correct. Roger did beat Djokovic at the US Open. I remember now. I'm so sorry if I confused you.
you mean the player who lost to the player who lost to the champion Federer?
pat cash and pat rafter were simply saying nadal is a great player, which he is undoubtedly
but Borg, Sampras, Laver, Lendl, Agassi, McEnroe, Wilander, and all the other tennis players including Nadal himself has said "Federer is the geratest player ever lived"
so take your Nadal fantasies back home with you and do whatever you like with pictures of him
This could be the year that Roger gets #s 17, 18 & 19!
He has it on his racket. Its probably his best chance. He's figured out clay, planned a smarter schedule. None of the wasteful exhibitions he played in 2008.
u r right there were some speculations before aus open 2010 that this might be the best of contests as federer was looking no more invincible by dec 2009 he lost few atp tours before final..but all of us have to accept that roger not only silenced critics but rather killed them by his performance in aus open 2010. 23 sets only can u imagine
You know, with Federer's less than stellar record for large portions of the last 3 years against the younger generation, I kinda assumed any Slam wins from 2008 onwards would be amongst his last.
Have I severely underestimated Federer? Perhaps he could end up with somewhere in the region of 21 - 24 slams.
less than stellar record against the younger generation? Murray holds a winning record against RF but when it matters most. 2 slam finals against RF=straight set loses in favor of the old guy Federer holds a 6-2 record against JMDelPotro and they are 2-1 in slams;in favor of RF Federer is 1-0 against Cilic 5-0 against Monfils 2-1 against Tsonga. He beat the shit out of JW in Australia 8-1 against Berdych 6-1 against Gasquet 2-0 against Querrey 1-0 against Isner ur sure he's struggling?
Perhaps you have had read my comment more carefully you would have understood me better. As I stated already, for large portions of the last 3 years he has struggled against the younger generation. Naturally I am talking of the dominant younger generation such as Nadal, Djokovic Murray and Del Potro. He had increased problems with Nadal after bringing the h2h to 8-6 at the end of 2007, Murray had periods of very good success against him and even Djokovic was figuring Federer out.
u r counting only the resuLts after his serius illness.(ao 2008). now he is (thank god) at his best again. AND WHEN HE IS AT HIS BEST N-O-O-N-E CAN BEAT HIM.(EXEPT RAFA IN CLAY)
No mate. It's called revisionist history. It's not like people predicted Nadal would not win RG, not win a title for many months and barely beat a top 10 player after May of 2009....
Federer has actually had to come back and win a Slam again against a young gun (Murray, seeing as he faltered against another young gun del Potro just months before) for people to suddenly say he never had trouble problems, yadda yadda, blah blah, Fed just had mono and back problems he was always gonna come back and win 23 Slams.
People forget too easily how the climate was changing and the major doubts that were floating around.
Among the young players only Nadal has a winning record against him - but look where he's at now. His knee problems tells me how good Federer was in 2004-2007 cause Rafa had to put so much effort to reach the no 1 spot and defeat Federer at Wimbledon.
Murray has a 6-5 lead over Federer but Fed is 2-0 in slam finals (both straight sets). He even said in one of the interviews that he's working on that head-to-head.
9-5 against Djokovic (4-1 in slams - only loss after mono)
@89Pleasek Roger's record against players of his own generation amazes me as well. stats like 19-2 vs Roddick, 17-7 vs Hewitt, 12-1 vs Gonzalez, 10-2 vs Safin and so on.. amazing, dominance
