@epiccornut234 if you have to apologize for modern music, then you're just listening to the wrong stuff. there were plenty of shitty artists in the 90s that sold more albums than blackstar just like there are plenty of lil waynes and waka flockas for every kendrick lamar or lupe fiasco (even though we can all agree Lasers was mostly garbage)
@GoldenPubes yeah im tired of that. People talk about all the great music of the 60s. The beatles and whatever else you love from that decade was swimming in a sea of garbage. Just listen to some old top of pops. The good stuff is what gets remembered.
Talib and def/yasiin bey one of the best collaborations in hip hop/rap history in my opinion. too excited just sitting here waiting for this album to drop. too bad the death of cds is coming. hopefully i can grab this in stores rather than digital. support them if you are a true fan people!! :D thanks blackstar!
I see yall like that real & good hip hop! lol check out the music on my page you'll definitley find some good music, bless you all and i hope to make fans from each one of you.
i love to listen to their stuff but fact is that you cant properly capture the charisma of mos def on a track, saw him live a few months ago and i couldnt take my eyes off him on, he COMMANDED the stage. talib was solid too but damn, mos went hard live
pretty positive this itunes version is just a mockery they made to the corporation and why they did so well live on colbert was to send a message that they want you to see their artistic talent that is true rap. not bye some studio version mass produced on itunes. Even on colbert Kwali tals about how great it is that they an play on that show without any corporation interaction.
@JSmithVEVO ...sorry, Madlib is a musical genius...some just don't get it...FANTASTIC TRACK...I'll listen to the Colbert version, but i'm just blown away by the diversity of Madlib, the Medicine Show, and is earlier works with Jaylib, Guilty Simpson and Strong Arm Steady...this should be the future of hip hop, and it is to those in the know.
@JSmithVEVO This is not the Itunes version, I downloaded that version and bump it in my car and you can here the beat so nice. this is a crappy upload playing on your crappy computer speakers
@BuschFiya | Plenty of people I know with BOSE sound systems and/or headphones have also complained to me about the audio disparity. Like I said, the mixing and mastering was not executed properly. I don't blame Black Star and I don't blame Madlib. I blame the engineers.
Peal apart, come together, come together, peal apart, COME TOGETHER! shows how they were doing it in the 3rd verse. (real talk).. I dont think anybody could spit that verse by his or her self ..its YASSIN AND KWELI ..but really just ONE blackstar….great names SHINE!!
For those moaning about the sound quality, mos & kweli are veterans, they know how a track should be mixed and mastered, the raw sound is deliberate I'm sure... They wan't that pure, uncut Hip Hop essence... hence the madlib/dilla sound they said they were headed for. Don't cuss em for it!
after showin thanks 4 my loved 1s yesterday the lord blesses me wit a new Black Star track. New Common album, New Nas album, Common & Nas album, & new Black Star album all on the way. & the ATCQ documentary that came out this year, all i need is a Fugees reunion & i can be satisfied 4 like another 5 years.

The house to shine, coupes on the routes recline
Be on Greenwich Mean, Beech Street, or Mountain time
But weigh it up, duke – your pound ain’t a ounce of mine

If I never heard the live performance Bey did on Colbert Report, I would've thought that this song is slightly wack.
Bey sounds as if Talib woke him up 2 am & pushed him into the booth to lay the lyrics down.
No sorta animation or proud flow behind 'em.

The disparity between this iTunes version and the live Colbert version is appalling.
Whoever mixed and mastered this song deserves to be fired. I can barely hear the beat and the vocals are all over the place.
Still, much love to Black Star. I'll never get used to callin' Mos Yasiin, though lol!!!
