I almost want to say that this music video has nothing to do with saving whales. Modest mouse works with subtleties, not in your face preaching as this video seems to be. I think if anything there are more important things worth saving, and maybe that's what this video is suppossed to be about?

The video depicts whales that could possibly be blue, humpback, or right whales, all of witch suffered great loss and have not and may never make a full recovery. Regardless if you watch the full video in the related links i think you'll find that it's meant to stand as an artistic statement about humanity and shouldn't be corn holed as just an animal rights piece.
