Pramaadham!! Takes me back to old times (early 1960's). I have heard this numerous times. She has sung this in my own home (we were very close family friends with MSS maami and her family).
This set of verses are in praise Lord Muruga taken from "Thiruppugazh Malai " composed by "Saint AruNagiri Nathar" at the holy site called Thiruvaavinan Kudi. This clip is only half of the whole song, possibly because of some Youtube limitations.
Lovely rare MSS rendition on Lord Muruga. Hers is mostly on Krishna or Vaishnav, rarely Shiva and Kamakshi. I am looking for other songs of MSS on Muruga. Thanks.
@mmrajan it is incorrect to coin baseless terms like 'mostly on Krishna or Vaishnav' terms for Amma's singing. For her it is only singing and adore and surrender to god through that. Have you heard of
1. Devaadi Deva? in which she sings Lord Shiva is Devaadi deva Sadaa shiva [this is one her extraordinary renditions]
2. Number of Ganesha vandana, Ganesha is Shiva's son!
3. Meenakshi Pancharatnam [if I am not wrong godess Meenkshi was Shiva's follower]
@mmrajan she was a follower of Kanchi seer too, and Kanchi seers are Shyivas.
Or do you have any other base to contradict? If so, then I am happy to correct, but otherwise your comment 'mostly on Krishna or Vaishnav' was incorrect.
@sriramgirish Of course. Thanks for the listings. I am as passionate about her renditions as you are. I don't have any basis to support my contention that she is polarized, except the fact that 80% (come on, Ganesha is neutral) of my OWN collections of hers are vaishnavite. After I add your list, hopefully it will change. I honestly believe that 'Kannanum Kandhanum Ondru', and I am sure MSS did too.
Sorry dee9u... It is a Tamil Song written by Arunagiri Nathar born in Tiruvannamalai. The song is part of Tirupugazh (towards Lord Murugan - Known as Subramanya Swami by others).

That is not true. You should look for Papanasam Sivan songs by MS like "Kartikeya kangeya". Sh eis just out of the world in this song.
