Probably because you only need to be holding down the green. You only tap the red, yellow, blue, and orange buttons. You can't hold those down.

actually, it's the other way around. The wii version has a smaller timing window than on the other versions. That makes it harder to hit notes, not easier. And do you know how long a second is? Pretty long, at least for the notes to go by.
