can someone please explain what is that stuffed thing with can am written on it on the handlebar? i always thought its for safety so you dont bang your head on it but my cousin said its only for good looks

@beeqool the point of the bar pad is so you dont smash your face on the bars. if it werent there, the bar would go straight through your goggles and right inbetween your eyes n prob crack your face. and if you flip over your bars you wont hurt your body landing on ur bars. obviously you can hit your face on the bar controls etc. but the most likely spot for you to hit is the center.

is the can am a good quad? Ive heard great reviews and the x XC is drawing me in but i didnt know how it did versus the big names like Yamaha and Honda and Suzuki

@XCRacer93 The Can-Am is pretty good. Haven't had any issues with it. It is unique, I also like the Yamaha too.

when I was looking at buying an atv I looked at the yamaha raptor, honda 400ex and the ds650. I heard stories of peoples raptors' having tranny problems, so that ruled that out, I like the Honda tough as hell cheaper parts, cheaper to buy easy to take care of but every honda i looked at was either modded by a 6 year old and/or needed alot of work (tie-rod joints, wheel bearings swing arm bushing etc.) and it had no grease fittings. So I spent the extra cash and bought a '05 ds650X

plus the ds is can-am (need I say more) and the ds always had a place in my heart, and my brothers already had a renegade and an outlander (both 800's) so i had to get something that would keep up with them :)

@XCRacer93 can am is pretty good. it is better than the yamaha 450x( the endurance quad). it might not be as powerful(1 top 2hp difference) as the yamaha but it is more nimble. but i have to say the ktm 450xc is probably the most powerful, nimble, and durable xc quad for sale. but if u dont ride every weekend or other weekend for 4 to 5 hours than go with can am. thats my advice.

hey man how reliable is your can-am ? does it match up to the other atvs ? and how mcuh mantinece does it need ? cause i am thinking about buying one .. sick vid by the way !!!

Thanks for the comment. The DS 450 has been pretty reliable. The maintenance schedule is the same as any of the other 450s. It runs great, most of the power is mid or at the top though. So you have to rev it pretty high unlike the Yamaha and KTM where they have a little more down low.

@ SIGsogger It is hard to recommend one, I really like the Can-Am or the Yamaha when it comes to 450s. But I also like riding the KTM. What kind of riding are you doing? MX, trails, etc.
