Dave, I have watched this several times over (and probably have hit the "like" button too many times as one is allowed :)) but there are times when I am feeling a certain way and this just picks me right up...! Thanks for all your vids.
haha- its the song from the cialis commercials--you know- this is the age where men get things done- then tha dude puts water in his radiator- or the one where the guy uses his horses to tow his truck out of the mud
I love all of your different kinds of music that you are into. thanks for all your lessons on helping people. I really do enjoy your videos. Peace Joe
The slide from the 2 to 4 then to 3 and slide 4 back to 2 is on the intro to boom boom boom by John Lee Hooker, what I like about this is adding the E note gives it a much fuller sound, nice thanks for sharing.
awesome lesson my friend! best of all, what youre playin really sounds the part, which is one helluva an endeavor in and of itself, and on top of that you show how its done real well. thanks a million bud.
You have taught me several catchy riffs so far. Mades me realize how much I love blues guitar. Thanks for the videos. I appreciate the time you put into them.
thebluesrockers, that would be called Hybrid picking with a plectrum....I guess you'd have to play the bass notes with the pick and the rest with your ring and middle finger, sawlons playing fingerstyle, I believe ,which in my opinion, would be easier to learn (than hybrid)from the beginning, but you may well feel differently about it
I just started a couple years ago at the age of 27....I have short fingers and knew nothing about playing music...but I'm picking it up...It's my favorite thing in the world to do...and I play about 3-5 hours per day..It's a slow go but I'm always learning something and getting a little better and a little faster...I WISH i'd have started at the age of 18...DO IT, FOOL!! ;)
Some of the well known blues guys didnt pick up the guitar 'till very late in life.
I think it was T-model ford (not 100%that it was him) who didnt start playing 'til 56! anyway he did a european tour a couple of years ago..... So, it really is never too late
Just a guess but it looks to be a Conn C-10 Model from the late 1960's to the mid 1970's...they were high quality copies of the Aria Pro II so it could also be one of those...again just a guess
I always used a pick and getting my thumb to do something other than what my fingers were doing seemed impossible, Then today I just happened to play this while tapping my foot and concentrating between that and my thumb and it came pretty easy. If you have the same problem try this it may help. These are great lessons I only wish that I had them when I was just learning.
Love the videos and the solo material too! Thank YOU and bless you for sharing! It means a lot to those of us who share the same passion for playing guitar!
What's great about your lessons is I have confidence I will 'get it' with a bit of effort. Never easy but doable with some 'stickum'. After a couple of hours there's a new guitar weapon in my arsenal. I can also take your material and mold it a fit into a blues piece...an insertion here, tag there, and so forth.
Cool lesson man! I'm so used to playing metal... blues and fingerpicking is a whole new world for me, this is gonna take a while to get used to!

@masterbate23 I dont think its possible to play this song with a pick, caus you need to play the bass the whole time with your thumb.

You definitely rank right alongside Howlin' Wolf himself where my heroes are concerned! Have learned so much from you.
Must be something about being in your 50's, we seem to speak the same language. Any more Guy Clark songs would be welcome.

No, it isn't too late. Having some musical knowledge helps, but a lot of people who don't know anything about music have started later than 18.

It's never too late to start doing something with love and dedication...
In the case of the blues - music, generally speaking - isn't hard at all.
