They both sing differently and in accordance with their strengths. Thanks to Howard, Killswitch Engage is still going and thanks to Jesse we have more metal going around. I must agree with you that Jesse sings with more passion than Howard now. I thought The End Of Heartache was an amazing album, as was As Daylight Dies. The last album lacked that heart-felt element that you mentioned. I do hope that they go ahead and release another album (likely) nonetheless.

Very amazing lyrics. Unlike KSE lyrics today that are all about love and sorrow. Jesse is the man. Sounds like he singed better back when he was in Killswitch though. Still, amazing songs and powerful screams.
My guess would be because he was just so good with KSE, that anything else has to live up to that benchmark, regardless of whether it's a different type of music.

The only thing Howard has ever had on Jesse is range. Jesse was far more deep in his lyrical ability and I will ALWAYS feel he was the better fit for Killswitch. Alive or just breathing is my favorite album in the world. No KSE album better.
You people must be on DRUG or something. Empire Shall Fall is better than KsE? KsE and Howard Jones are 1000 times way fuckin better than TESF and Jesse Leach period. KsE is the best of the best band ever. even All That Remains...As I Lay Dying...Lamb Of God and August Burns Red are all better than TESF for sure.

Well yes, Jesse's screams are intense but i personally dont like them. I like Howard's screams better because they are more clear and sound better. And i mean both by "Took off." I know they were big when Jesse was there but now that Howard joined They became amazingly better musicians and the band got bigger on the charts because they just progressed so much. They're new album is amazing and it's mainly because of Howard's singing and Adam's amazing guitar skills.

Howard is great with dynamics & he also has a decent range and mostly stays in pitch. in contemporary sense, Jesse is better. not only are his screams more moving, rhythmically creative, but his choruses are unique but more contemporary at the same time. I can guarantee you that in the years to come there will be more singers that sound like Jesse (I'm not saying that's why he's better tho). it's personal taste

what I really like about Jesse as compared to Howard, is that he actually says something. Aside from Howard having been in some bad relationships I'm not sure what KsE is about anymore. But this stuff, this music is organic and real.
STOP talking about KsE on TESF video's!!! It's sickening as all hell and we don't care who likes AOJB because we all like it so no need to mention it. This is a new band and a different style of metal. KsE is metalcore and TESF is post punk / experimental metal so it makes no sence to say which is better. They are both amazing in their own genre's.

For me it's the hair standing on the back of my neck and my knuckles turning white from clenched fists and his lyrics echoing through my head that make this badass hardcore metal.

Metal is a giant, a god damn juggernaut! Metal is practically a religion, yes, metal was born from a need to push the envelope lyrically and instrumentally. BUT... the need to push the envelope regarding music as a whole comes from a much deeper source. So yes, Metal is bigger than anything you can describe with a 500 character count. Metal is about soul. It's about opinions, relationships, religion, philosophy, etc. I think I could go on but YES, Metal goes way beyond instrumentation.

Seemless SUCK and Empire Shall Fall will not out sell Killswitch Engage albums. TESF will not be as good as KsE or be as big as KsE these day. All of my friends are all huge KsE fan. Howard Jones put KsE on the map and got KsE big band these day. KsE live on and on, KsE will not fade away. Empire Shall Fall will not last long like KsE 4 sure.

I agree with you guys too. Howard does have a more universal singing voice but only because I think his singing style is justplayed out in so many other genres so people are comfortable with his style. Jesse's style is much more current and his lyrics are unbelieveable. both great singers but Jesse's my favorite metal singer. KsE's first album was fuckin sick. soilborn and in the unblind are amazing tunes and don't forget IRREVERSAL!!!! it's one of KsE's top 5 I think

Everyone keeps pointing out how AOJB is one the best albums ever, and I agree, but what about their 1st album (the original self titled album). That's one my all time favorite albums, maybe even more than AOJB. Songs like Numb Sickened Eyes, Soilborn, Irreversal, In the Unblind and Rusted Embrace are some the best KsE songs ever!
Okay we can all agree on this- AOJB is among the best metal albums, heck best albums in history- period.
I'm not so much a fan of the 1st KsE record- i prefer the remastered, renamed version (Temple from the Within), but even with that i don't think it showcases Jesse's singing enough... but still great- Rusted Embrace is my favourite from there.

Gotta say i don't like the album version of Choir of Angels. The squeals aren't as prominent, and the lone chorus seems muddled with noise. Still a brilliant track though.

well, it's not exactly an EP, but it is their first album and it's basically showcasing their music. Still you can't establish a fan base comparable to KsE's in one album, they are known as one of the leaders in the New Wave of American Heavy Metal music. KsE has had a lot of time and albums to get fans attention, not to mention the first two with Jesse Leach, which helped, but people seem to want to say KsE sold out because of Howard, it's a band decision to play what you play not the singers
exactly, theire shouldn't even be a comparison, they are actually nothing alike, save the vocalist. Anyone who is willing to listen to the difference will notice it. I admit when I first heard these guys I was all about Jesse and KsE, but after being a fan long enough you can really tell it's not the same thing. I preordered the album on day one it was available for pre-order man. Also everyone is this band seems really cool and down to earth, it helps they give a damn about their fans.
Seriously though, they will take their time out of their day to talk with you and answer questions, they are willing to play anywhere you can get them, and they even will talk with like your pal which really is cool. I think if you go back and look at everyone in the bands previous work you'd realize this band has a lot more talent than just Jesse.

Very amazing lyrics. Unlike KSE lyrics today that are all about love and sorrow. Jesse is the man. Sounds like he singed better back when he was in Killswitch though. Still, amazing songs and powerful screams.

They're not even that mainstream, I NEVER hear them on the radio, MTV, VH1, literally nothing. I only hear them on my ipod.. So they're not. And Howard doesn't have any emotion either? Read Howards lyrics, they have so much meaning and emotion. Jesse is not a better singer though.

The only thing Howard has ever had on Jesse is range. Jesse was far more deep in his lyrical ability and I will ALWAYS feel he was the better fit for Killswitch. Alive or just breathing is my favorite album in the world. No KSE album better.

When you say KsE 'took off', do you mean this is when you started personally liking them more or when they got higher ratings in the charts? 'Cause there is a BIG difference. I hope you mean personally, for the sake of Metal.

Well yes, Jesse's screams are intense but i personally dont like them. I like Howard's screams better because they are more clear and sound better. And i mean both by "Took off." I know they were big when Jesse was there but now that Howard joined They became amazingly better musicians and the band got bigger on the charts because they just progressed so much. They're new album is amazing and it's mainly because of Howard's singing and Adam's amazing guitar skills.

Howard is great with dynamics & he also has a decent range and mostly stays in pitch. in contemporary sense, Jesse is better. not only are his screams more moving, rhythmically creative, but his choruses are unique but more contemporary at the same time. I can guarantee you that in the years to come there will be more singers that sound like Jesse (I'm not saying that's why he's better tho). it's personal taste

Metal is a giant, a god damn juggernaut! Metal is practically a religion, yes, metal was born from a need to push the envelope lyrically and instrumentally. BUT... the need to push the envelope regarding music as a whole comes from a much deeper source. So yes, Metal is bigger than anything you can describe with a 500 character count. Metal is about soul. It's about opinions, relationships, religion, philosophy, etc. I think I could go on but YES, Metal goes way beyond instrumentation.

Seemless SUCK and Empire Shall Fall will not out sell Killswitch Engage albums. TESF will not be as good as KsE or be as big as KsE these day. All of my friends are all huge KsE fan. I agree with you guys too. Howard does have a more universal singing voice but only because I think his singing style is justplayed out in so many other genres so people are comfortable with his style. Jesse's style is much more current and his lyrics are unbelieveable. both great singers but Jesse's my favorite metal singer. KsE's first album was fuckin sick. soilborn and in the unblind are amazing tunes and don't forget IRREVERSAL!!!! it's one of KsE's top 5 I think

Who cares if KsE's album sells more? That doesn't make it better music. In fact this is the point of TESF- to me (a massive KsE fan, they are my favourite band, I LOVE ALL THEIR ALBUMS) it seems KsE have gone down the route of making music that will be more popular.

Everyone keeps pointing out how AOJB is one the best albums ever, and I agree, but what about their 1st album (the original self titled album). That's one my all time favorite albums, maybe even more than AOJB. Songs like Numb Sickened Eyes, Soilborn, Irreversal, In the Unblind and Rusted Embrace are some the best KsE songs ever!

Okay we can all agree on this- AOJB is among the best metal albums, heck best albums in history- period.
I'm not so much a fan of the 1st KsE record- i prefer the remastered, renamed version (Temple from the Within), but even with that i don't think it showcases Jesse's singing enough... but still great- Rusted Embrace is my favourite from there.

Yeah i am bothered when bands use filler-songs to make up the album. I've noticed bands with Jesse in them never have filler material- it's the way he writes his songs.
Gotta say i don't like the album version of Choir of Angels. The squeals aren't as prominent, and the lone chorus seems muddled with noise. Still a brilliant track though.

I think the death metal chugging drums are a pretty sweet touch, but at the cost of the squealing guitars in the verse.

well, it's not exactly an EP, but it is their first album and it's basically showcasing their music. Still you can't establish a fan base comparable to KsE's in one album, they are known as one of the leaders in the New Wave of American Heavy Metal music. KsE has had a lot of time and albums to get fans attention, not to mention the first two with Jesse Leach, which helped, but people seem to want to say KsE sold out because of Howard, it's a band decision to play what you play not the singers

exactly, theire shouldn't even be a comparison, they are actually nothing alike, save the vocalist. Anyone who is willing to listen to the difference will notice it. I admit when I first heard these guys I was all about Jesse and KsE, but after being a fan long enough you can really tell it's not the same thing. In order to do that and spread their message they will have to tour though- it's just not the same when some of the best bands in world dont tour enough to show their power to the rest of the world. And in this case spread the righteous message of their music!

Howard really is an amazin singer, but not for KsE & that's why they've almost completely changed for the worse. Jesse on the other hand is doing incredible things lyrically & has even more dnamics & range than ever before. I guarantee TESF's record will be better than KsE's newest 1 & Jesse's a big part of that. I'm sure every1 hates hearing it & bringin it up but right know I don't care so you can talk all the shit you want but if you agree, back me up even if it's stupid thing to argue about

people will badmouth me for saying it bcuz it is a stupid argument to discuss at all and some people that don't play music or just have a bad hear actually like Howard better but I think especially someone who first heard KsE with Jesse would agree that Jesse is better than Harold in all ways but one. Harold is classically better singer but, for a heavy emotional band like KsE or TESF, Jesse is better even when he sings and especially his lyrics and screams shit all over harolds.

dude anyone that doesn't like this song bcuz they were expecting KsE clearly fucks their families bcuz Jesse didn't try to rejoin for a reason. that point of his career is over and even tho I do think that AOJB is the greatest album of all time, it doesn't take anything away from the incredible music he's doing now. He's actually a better singer and writer now. and as far as the Jesse vs Harold thing, it's stupid BUT, nobody can honestly say the Harold sounds better in the studio than Jesse did

wtf are you talking about? this is the old singer from KSE Jesse Leach... alot of people liked his vocals and lyrics alot better and when he left KSE alot... ALOT of people starting talking about it and its still argued today, personally i like both Jesse and Howard. but i like Jesse's music alot better and because so many people wanted him to. he started a new metal band, how do you think they are trying to be KSE? you probably have no clue about the bands history

You can't compare Jesse and Howard my friend, they are two different singers that just sang in the same band. I'm not gonna get into the Jesse vs. Howard discussion cause it's been done, it's annoying and nobody ever wins an opinion battle. But I will say this, aren't you fucking stoked that Jesse is back in the metal scene?

I couldn't honestly tell you whic h one I like better man, they both have their talents. I just misread your comment and thought you were trying to imply a Jesse vs. Howard argument. Trust me I talk to the guys in this band, they are sick of hearing about Jesse vs. Howard, I respect that they are their own band and that the Empire Shall Fall shouldn't have the whole fucking arguments on their videos. I am honestly and old KsE fan yes, but these guys aren't KsE, not by far.
