It's all cyclical. We think this era was the best. 10-15 years from now peeps will be saying Soulja Boy was the best. That is just how it is. Just like people grew up with the Beatles and think they are the best, and later people grew up thinking Van Halen was the best. The issue is that in rap, it is rare people can appreciate 2 eras for what they are.
You have a point but you can't deny the quality of music in the current era of hip hop pales in comparison to what he saw in the 90s. It isn't even a matter of nostalgia. Lyrics, production and messages in the 90s were just better all around then they are today.
