Well to understand an atheist, you must understand where s/he is coming from. An atheist is simply logical, connecting things and making solutions when a gap in knowledge arises. A theist would rather state that it is not within his/her control or that it is incomprehensible,as you have said. If what you say is true and we do understand it when our spirit releases then great! I'll believe you. But until then, the unclear connection of God's existence to reality is too vague for me to understand.

But true open-mindedness would dictate that "objective knowledge" is the only true basis for morality. For example, if homosexuality is actually detrimental to the internal (psych/emotional) make-up of a human being (and society) and yet the prevailing knowledge base classifies it as simply a value-free physiological condition, the group's morality is flawed no matter how much agreement.

I was raised Catholic for 18 years, and in that time I saw more ugliness and hate then I have since I left. I'm now 31. If God is love, then he would be 'jealous' or 'wrathful'. You say atheists take things literatly out of the bible.
Ok explain this then, if god wrote the bible then his words are divine, so simple man cannot understand its meaning. So nothing from teh bible can any man understand so everything every christain does is under false meaning.

God created us in His likeness and gave us enough understanding to interpret His word with the help of the Holy Spirit. What kind of God would we have if He created us, but didn't allow us to understand Him? That's completely pointless. I believe your comment was a fail.

"Biblical truth"? What makes you think the Bible is true? If you believe it's the word of God, then you must accept every jot and tittle. If you don't accept its manifold atrocities, then you can't believe that it's the word of God. Hence you have no basis for believing any of it.

I was raised Catholic for 18 years, and in that time I saw more ugliness and hate then I have since I left. I'm now 31. If God is love, then he would be 'jealous' or 'wrathful'. He wouldn't teach hate, or encourage violence. The God I read about in the Bible growing up, was a cruel and merciless being, who would smite people or whole communities simply because he didn't like what was going down. You know what? If that is the kind of God you want to follow, you go right ahead. I'll happily burn.

We are no longer under the Mosiac Laws, and they did not have forgiveness of sin back then either it was atoned for.

He does a whole hell of lot more than that, he orders genocide, allows rape of female prisoners, he is cool with slavery, commands the slaughter of babies and gets in on the action himself sometimes... I've been reading it, and it is a very fucked up book....

@lokitagaby17 Actually more people have been killed do to Racism, Land and Property. Sure people have died because of religion, but many more people have been spiritually saved and just because you don't believe in the same thing that Religious People do, doesn't make you anymore right than them. Plenty of people who didn't believe in a higher being have killed people and usually when it comes to their time, what do they do? All of a sudden they see the light and say, "Lord save me!"

occam's razor allows for simplistic explanations. Being "born again" doesn't mean you get to shape the passages in the bible to your convenience. The bible was written by imperfect men, so it is an imperfect book, I wont create a moral compass on a flawed book.

I find it odd that
1. Christian videos are flooded with atheists, and atheist videos are flooded with Christians 2. You seem to lack even a basic understanding of your religion. if im correct in assuming u r mocking christianity in general, ive never heard of a christian sacrificing an animal since the dark ages, also, a true christian loves and respects his/her fellow man regardless of religious affiliation. the stereotypes u bring up dont even occur in a normal christian life. furthermore, god is not "cool" with the atrocities humans commit. we are given free will and must decide for ourselves what kind of ppl we r 2 b.

I have heard of christians letting their children die instead of taking them to the doctor because Jesus said really, really believing in something will make you all better. The very message of Christ is not to question things and believe them blindly, because if you do, you can do MAGIC. So the teaching of christ are not only profoundly immoral, they are dangerous. BTW care to define "free will" because I have a feeling you don't know as much about the human brain as you think you do.

I have to admit, that the fundies are more rational than you are, because they atleast believe the whole thing or nothing, which is a rational standpoint. Because how do YOU know which parts to believe and which parts to write of as bullshit? the bible isnt supposed 2 b taken literally. its all about simple moral lessons: love thy neighbor b a good person dont b decieved by evil it doesnt matter if these stories didnt actually happen. thats not the point also, christians dont HAVE to agree with everything the bible endoctorines i dont believe gays go to hell even tho the bible suggests that they do. it is the word of god, but it was man who interpreted this word so some views would obviously b reflections of their surrounding society

Simple moral lessons? When is the last time you read this thing? You mean lessons like it's ok to beat and torture your slave? How bout how it says you can rape prisoners of war? Or how about how GOD HIMSELF said you can sell your daughter into slavery. My all time favorite is the moral lesson of how you should kill your child if God tells you to do it (not to mention the children of others). So all in all your point is your cherry pick from this sickening book for the very few good parts.

and this presents a problem. you see, people choose to rape and kill others, and god, despite his "omnipotence", DOES allow it. he has the power and knowledge to stop such things, but chooses not to prevent them from happening. typically this is known as ALLOWING. how can you say that the person being raped is given free will if an all-powerful being is simply allowing someone else to rape them? after all, i think rape and murder qualify as negation of the victim's free will.

unfortunately, u r correct. bc of the free will of certain sadistic individuals harm can be done to those who dont deserve it (no one deserves 2 b raped in any case) my explanation will probably not satisfy u bc ik it doesnt fully satisfy me. god puts his believers thru tests to strengthen faith, so ive been told. it seems pretty cruel 2 me, but ive been taught that every event has a hidden reason behind it, even the bad events

Evil is the absence of God, as darkness is the absence of light. God can be in all things, but this is where the free will He gave us comes in. We have to let Him in. Read Revelations 3:20 for crying out loud...

what's worse is the whole idea of god sacrificing himself to himself because that is the only way he forgives sins (by a blood sacrifice) is not only immoral it's INSANE. BTW do you think it's "moral" to burn your creations forever and ever for doing something as simple as telling a lie? The Bible can be "reinterpreted" a million times, and it is still bullshit. And if God can't be discerned, how do you know the people who wrote the Bible knew what they were talking about?
