T-90=T-72 with minor upgrades, the Russians quickly tried to make a new tank, Marakov, Russias top general, has criticized the T-90 for being inferior ''in every level'' when compared to western and even Chinese tanks [that part i don't get].
The T-95 was to be a true upgrade but it was cancelled.

RPG-7 penetrated M1 hands down, in fact its upper glacis just 50mm at 82 degrees, sides just 57mm-25mm, and turret`s rear and rear sides 50-57mm. Even WW2 artillery and bazooka can do it with no actual problems, Hell modern 25-30mm APFSDS rounds do that. And for example there was occasion when M1 Abrams was hit by T-55`s (Type 59) 100mm BR412 round into it`s side and that round just went through opposite side.
As it was told here many times - DU is WORST material to be chosen as armor, its just as tough as steel but 3 times heavier - which means you can tank 3 times LESS of it in same mass limit. In addition M1 has very poor mass/volume index of 3,0. While T-90 has it 4,28 tonnes per 1m^3
Javelin has no use againt any modern tank simply because its very poor range which puts its team even within coax MG range, and its whole MINUTE launch sequence.
@killerbear1339 The SMAW would be worthless against the T-90's Kontakt-5/composite armour blend and with a maximum range of only 550 yards its not that great to begin with. Also, the AT-4 is Swedish, not American. It, too, would not penetrate the T-90 due to the composite armour and Kontakt-5, which provide over 1,000mm RHA equivalent protection. AT-4 penetrates 400mm maximum of steel plate (which is out of date). The T-90 also features an infrared laser jammer for use against missiles.

If major war starts the Leopard 2 tanks will be depleted soon. Germany has no resources, it relies on steel import. It's obvious that russia will have much larger casualties. But they can take their T-72s from the storage, plant in new engines, fire controls, thermals, put on some reactive armor and you have hundreds of them coming off every month.
@patrikasLTL Actually, they can make the T-72s UNMANNED thanks to the autoloader in first place giving a certain degree of autonomy. Just like the modern UCAVs. You save there thousand of lives and trash thousands of armoured bots to battle which they keep coming out relentlessly from the war factories. This way you kill the MANNED tanks and enemy infantries as well. With this method, you can cover very large ground surfaces without getting touched, the use of UNMANNED AA system is good to.
@ComradeCody Look it like this: if you have so many old armor store in the room re-use it, improve it, automate it. And voila you have tank drones. Why they codename them T-series T=terminator. :) Automating a tank is not that complicated, probably a bit expensive, but look at the bright side, most of the parts are already done (the tank) making production fast, add a computer and advance optics with ATGMs and Grazyev-Shipunovs-30 auto-cannons.

Does it even matter who's the best? Yes, the T-90 is a great piece of machinery. Probably even superior to the M1. But what does all this prove?!!! Absolutely nothing. Forget Call of Duty kiddies. Just compare M1A2 or 2A6/7 inside commander displays.I can only smile! Ru generals admited that there will be no BIMS implemented due to simply reason.RU have simply GPS problem! GLONAS missing money for 23 own sattelites to cover enough terrain.Modern tank with no GPS and battlefield information system inside is only crap of metal with blind meat inside.T90 use 8km range ammo but have too low profile to see far enough (worse FLIR) so desperately add defence systems like Kontakt-5, Shtora,Arena.

Due to shit KREML with total corruption system in army and weak economy (tragic old time direct and artifitial manipulated and control economy system with mainly resources selling III world Africa closer country models) T90 is only 4% of all RU tanks (2 funny elite divisions power). Most of T90 are older simply T90 with no Shotra or Arena addons misiing MS version better aiming electornics too. So they use old propganda based on few experimental units

Fuel, roads, enemy fire support all determine wether your armor is going to come to the battlefield today, or ever.
If major war starts the Leopard 2 tanks will be depleted soon. Germany has no resources, it relies on steel import. It's obvious that russia will have much larger casualties. But they can take their T-72s from the storage, plant in new engines, fire controls, thermals, put on some reactive armor and you have hundreds of them coming off every month.

@patrikasLTL Actually, they can make the T-72s UNMANNED thanks to the autoloader in first place giving a certain degree of autonomy. Just like the modern UCAVs. You save there thousand of lives and trash thousands of armoured bots to battle which they keep coming out relentlessly from the war factories. This way you kill the MANNED tanks and enemy infantries as well. With this method, you can cover very large ground surfaces without getting touched, the use of UNMANNED AA system is good to.

@ComradeCody Look it like this: if you have so many old armor store in the room re-use it, improve it, automate it. And voila you have tank drones. Why they codename them T-series T=terminator. :) Automating a tank is not that complicated, probably a bit expensive, but look at the bright side, most of the parts are already done (the tank) making production fast, add a computer and advance optics with ATGMs and Grazyev-Shipunovs-30 auto-cannons.

Colleagues, 46,5 t is a limit of what T-90's suspension and 1050 h. p. engine can sustain. No more upgrades and uparmoring possible. That's the reason why Russian MoD stopped purchasing of T-90, and decided to upgrade T-72s while waiting until "Armata' is developed... P. S. Not sure it would be gettng "T" label. For sure, it won't be labelled T-99 (Cesko222), since Chinese tank already has this T-99 label...

While in Iraq 50 Abrams were KIA and 130 were heavily damage by IEDs and RPGs beyond repair and destroyed by the soldiers them-self.
