  • I used to play giant steps in all 12 keys, although once you learn the tune in the correct 4 keys you can play it in all 12 keys. I understand third rail changes. I suffer from dysatonia and other neurologic difficulties and have played in over 2 years. I recorded these to sell my shop horns on ebay which all sold for less than what I paid before overhauling them. The Parker tunes are largely blues tunes. Harmonically many standards are harmonicaally interesting due to modulation and struct

  • very very well done but guys the chord changes aren't hard.

    try giant steps...

but not to take away from the dude playing his really good.

  • Your tone is gorgeous.

  • Focus on the bridge. It modulates keys every few bars. You can ask your band director to explain it to you. The beginning and end are all in one key. I would tell you more but I lost the use of my hands and do not have the chart in front of me. Once he or she explains the structure you should do fine, thanks,Ted.

  • love this! doing this in the Big Band im in....finding it sooo hard, but you seem to play it like its second nature! i am envious :D

  • Very nice.. I love Yardbird Suite! You did a fantastic job.

  • I played on a meyer 6 med facing med chamber and vandoren java reeds . Meyers are cheap .Phil Woods plays on one as do a ton of other alto players. I do not like them on Tenor but they are good soprano mouthpieces also. Good luck to you on your playing,Ted

  • wow, what kind MP you use? and which model of jupiter is this ?

  • Eeek, sorry but I'm being honest, tuning very #, timing ouch. Play fewer notes and make 'em count.

  • beautiful! you've got some great licks going. Wheres the backing track from?

    cheers

  • I found this on sotw, which model of jupiter is this ?

  • good job.

  • Nice solo.. wow :)

  • what jupiter saxophone are you using ? thx

  • Can you send me the background music and the music sheet?

  • cool

  • Not a bad iteration of this piece. Nice tone, tasteful playing, and... I like it!

  • hey if i may ask what kinds of saxophone do you play? I originally play a baritone...i can play half of yardbird its tough but not unplayable and on a baritone its really fun

  • im 15, il be playing yhis for my final exam in two weeks, thank you so much ive been struggling with some of the rhythms, your playing made it really clear :)

  • that was brilliant:) this song is so hard to play!

  • It's an aba form tune and the bridge is the only place where it modulates in 4ths which is typical of bebop tunes.I appreciate your comments but I am very physically sick and this isn't close to what I played when I was healthy.I appreciate that you enjoyed it though thanks

  • Beautiful

  • I'm playing this!

You sound awesome, grreat job x

  • tremendo interprete...solo debe mejorar un poco la presencia..

  • This is beautiful. Thank you for posting it.

  • can you give me any tips for playing an improv on this song? i have to solo on this for our school band, and i think i suck at it. and if it makes any big difference, i play tenor, not alto. i guess that means scales for me...

  • My man, may I ask how long you have been playing?

  • 39 years

  • @jazzmanted 41

  • wow! i can play yardbird suite but not like that. i have been playing for three years and you have motivated me evene more.

  • nice break into the solo.

  • Agreed.

  • Damn,, I've been thinking over the last 3 months, shall I teach to play the alto-sax? Well thankyou, you just motivated me for antother 200%!! Damn, dat is so nice. Can you add some be-bob jazz on youtube?

  • Excellent, that's how I describe this.

  • great interpretetion!

  • Amazing. I love the sound and tone

  • nice improv but i would suggest that you work on your tougning and do what i did for this song, listen to every single note and how he plays and that will make you sound like the bird himself

  • [might i add its my first gig other then singing at weddings..]

haha. and im nervous. and your incredible improv just blow me the hell away!

    hahaha

    ahhh

  • great playing!! im performing this piece tomorrow in apart of my set for my gig!!

    It sounds incredible!

  • Hello!

Nice playe´d version of Aebersold backup Y.Suite!

I rate a star for You, at the same time please lesson on my version of the same song, played on chromatic Harmonica on YouTube!

  • Superb stuff. Lovely lines, I wish I could do that!

  • I enjoyed that - great playing. You should give Ritchie Cole lessons on how to play this tune.

  • Thank you for that large compliment and i wish it were true.I haven't heard richie in a long time but he is a great player. When I was in the air force band Marcus Mclaurin who played bass in the band and went on to be clark terry's bassist for the last 30 years ,greg sandler who played clarinet and I use to go see ritchie play in ajoint I can't remember in Jersey.Have a great day
