Mick deserved every shot keith took. He went behind the bands back and made secret record deals and tried to elevate himself above the stones. Watch the video of "under my thumb" from 1981. The banner reads "Mick Jagger and the rolling stones". He was an ego maniac, especially in the 80`s when he was somehow convinced that he didn`t need the stones anymore. Unfortunate, because he and Keith together are such good songwriters and their 80`s material is extremely sub par for the stones.
Keith Richards is pathetic!!! It's ok for him to hang up with Clinton and receive prizes for book written by ghost writer... it's ok to him to write a letter to Tony Blair and support aggression in Iraq - KR advises to Blair "to stick ti his guns".It seems he believes that he can' t do wrong and even his crap out of pure gold. His shots at Jagger are so hypocritical.Richards is dishonest and jealous old man, who long ago lost all his talent in a drugged haze
I think Kieth is the one who is honest here. Anyone that understands what a load of crap it is that life 'holds' for us can understand his perspective. He could care less what people think of him and I love him for that.
Biggest Stones fan you'll find here- However, Mick Taylor gets NO credit for where they are today. Keith Richards would not be Keith Richards if Mick Taylor was not in that band for those years. Some of their greatest stuff was made during 69-75 while Mick was with them. Long live the stones!
@dannyd1572 Yes its kinda sad that Mick Taylor is basically broke and Mick and Keith have hundreds of millions..You'd think they'd throw a few royalties his way for his huge contribution to the Stones
Keith is the definition of rock star, if you really love rock n' roll, you gotta love this guy. He tells it like it is, and he's no pretender. Richards is the real deal, and he's got an edge that's very rare.
If both of them just up(I know Keef,Charlie and Woody have) and come together and right now...they might be able to roll next year, and that would be a something, don´t you think. It+s all about Rock and I like them all.yes I do..
Mick saved the Stones in the 70's when Keef was too stoned to care. Mick takes a lot of insults, always takes the high road and never responds in kind to Keef although you know he very well could.
@mistomen Well, despite being pretty high in the 70's, Keith always managed to write some pretty remarkable songs. Having said that, I agree that Keith (as a supposed partner) of many decades should show some respect to Mick (and the brand) by shutting his effin' mouth. But, that's Keith, innit? He knows that Mick's business savvy made him alot of dough but he's pissed that when he got sober and wanted to put his opinion in on business matters, Mick said in effect, no. That's the issue.
@mistomen Thats very true. I lost a lot of respect for Keith after reading his book. He didn't just take a few cheap shots at Jagger he took about a hundred. Thats not an exaggeration either.
Keith Richards jealous, do me a favour. The guy has done something with his life without the benefit of privilege and he is not descended from a bunch of thief's and freeloaders like the bloody Saxe-coburgs.
When Keef said Mick should hang out for a peerage I think he will get that Lord title because of his wealth. As for Keith he says he's all Brit but his case Sir Keef sound stupid but I've gotten use to his looks so anything is possible.
Richards...you eccentric landlord of several estates, you would've found it the best joke and ultimate victory ,that you (an unreformed junk) could've been knighted too.I don't give a fuck ,but I can understand why Jagger accepted ,and in the process gave a fat middle finger ,to all the corrupt officials that tried to kill the band 30 years ago.
AWESOME!!!! Keith is total rockstar .... who wants to get a fucking knighthood from that creepy insectuous family. only fame hungry commercial sell-outs.... Keith is hardcore humble to the last. Also, he seems much happier than Mick, he's totally down-to-earth and chill
@portelaification SOLD HIMSELF??WTF? What bullshit.He got a knighthood.Big deal.As far as I know he doesn't call himself Sir Mick..The guy is amazing.He hasn't sold anything...except a zillion or so albums
I have a lot of respect for Mick. I read Keith's book, which is a great book, however, it was utterly disrespectful of how terrible he talked about Mick. And for no apparent reason. He'd be telling a story about something and then throw a jab at Mick in the middle of telling it. It was almost like a sibling rivalry still going on. I ove Keith but I lost some respect for him from the book.
mick jaggersan areshole . and when he took the award he said the establishment that was around in my day isnt around anymore.well it is its worse cause the lines are blurd. thats why tony blair an all them hand out with bono and that cause they act as mediators so,an people will exept there shit
@Luxmaxnike Actually, of all democratic systems, those derived from Constitutional Monarchies, particularly Britain's, are the most secure, stable and prosperous. The Queen has more experience as head of state than any leader in the world today. She is not merely ornamental, and to say they are "useless" is just pure ignorance. Take away the royal family, and Britain will have the prestige and power of Fiji.
@Contractnik Bullshit. The UK's prestige as a nation has nothing to do with the Royal family. It is due to the history of the British Empire and the spread of its culture, as well as the country (particularly London) being a massive financial hub and an essential part of the global economy.
Mick has long mastered and milked the establishment in Britain, through strength of talent and intuition. His children all now make the most of the silver spoon in their mouths. In the 60s, the band pissed on a fence in public and hell broke loose. Keith remained the rebel (with ethics, maybe), while, over time, Mick made the best of his connections and power for his own interests and the Stones' interests. He is 'rock aristocracy', and should have a pointy stick. The Glimmer Twins relationship.
Good for Keith. What hypocrisy - to slam the English establishment for two decades (in the process, making millions) - and then to accept their honors.
Reminds me of the Parisian whores who found the right husband and ended up as prim little snide social arbitors, decades later.
Honestly, you got to love both of these dudes, if for no other reason than they've been bandmates, friends, and God knows what the hell else for about 50 years!!!
They simply are what they are... with no excuses or apologies.

@iamprov Hi. In case you're still wondering! Keith says "I thought it [ie, the knighthood] was a cheap shot...come on....it should have been Lord Dartford or something, you know what I mean?....". M & K come from and grew-up in Dartford. Being a Lord is higher ranking than being a knight of the realm. He is clearly taking the piss.
@iamprov io già faccio fatica a capire chi parla un inglese "normale" ma quì mi cadono le braccia, mi viene solo da ridere.hahahaha. povero keith ha il cervello affumicato!
@iamprov "A damned knighthood Anita Palenburg ancient art of weaving my solo career fared better did you hear I'm writing a book yes I snorted me dad's ashes what of it?" Or something like that.
@theartofliving01 mmk shut up please. The Rolling Stones would not be The Rolling Stones without the best lead singer in rock and roll, Mr. Mick Jagger.
A lot of people don't realize this, but they aren't really friends anymore and haven't been for decades. They are complete opposites in terms of personality and lifestyle. They run a business together, that's as far as it goes. They don't share the same management, ride in the same cars, or stay in the same hotels. The same can be said for the others also. What I find bizarre is that the Government and establishment were trying to throw them in jail in the1960s. Now he gets an title 30 ys later
Those fagot ass royals should knight Keith also, what the fuck they should of done all the Stones or none. Keith means more to me than any fucking noble dickwad
Mick's just another sycophant, and probably proud to be that. I don't think much of him. He loves being looked up to be working class people, but he definitely looks down on (us) them. Listen to the words of "Salt of the Earth". It might not be what you think....
@nightskytube: Didn't Keith get an invitation that he deep sixed? I read that from one source, I don't know if it's true.
No, I don't like knighthood or monarchy or any crap like that. It's evil to me. The whole "free market concept" sucks. If those bastards had their way, we wouldn't even have access to beaches along the Pacific Ocean or the parks here in California. It would all be under private ownership or ruined, just like every other dam place. They call anyone who disagrees "socialists"
@djangolad he is the man....and i think someday he will die a rebel....and he is right...what is a night? big deal....they got to think more like kings...a la elvis presley....the king....
That's nothing to say for a sword carrying pirate éh..Keef..? Methinks you would relish the thought, of crossing swords with that queen bitch / ( ☠
Their (sometimes) conflicting personalities, translated in music and image, is what makes the Stones special, for a big part.
What I like about this is, that people of their generation are just able to criticize each-other, without making a big deal of it and just stay friends. A lot of it is irony.
BTW, I find it quite peculiar of Mick to call Keith, who's trade-mark song is Happy, an unhappy person.
Keef- please shut up. You spout the nastiest shit about Mick in "Life"- this from someone who bedded Miss Faithful - then told her it was Mick who really loved her,all the while plotting to steal Anita Pallenberg. What a bandmate. Too stoned to care while Mick ran the biz side of things, finally sobered up only to find Mick reluctant to loosen the reins . Why should he? You should have cut down on the drug binges, old cock. What has happened to the world's greatest rock band? They got old.
I think you read too much into it. It's a book..... designed to sell. They're still like brothers and whatever is said is meant for our ears. You're talking about their life story from the book as if that's EXACTLY what happened.
Get real. None of us really know. Just those guys.
Keith should lay off Mick. So what? He accepted a Knighthood. It was an honor. Mick is a good guy. So is Keith. But Keith nitpicks. I am sure neither of them are all fun all the time, especially when working.
So Mick is a pansy, after all. An MBE?? OMG, what was he thinking? And his smart-ass remark to that reporter also makes him look like a very weak individual. Keith was and is the real McCoy, not only as a musician but as a person. And in my opinion, contrary to what Mick says (and probably Mick himself), I think Keith Richards is actually a secure and contented person, if not deliriously happy. Mick, baby, you're a sad one.
I have two bathrooms at my house. The upstairs one is clean as a whistle, the downstairs one is like a truckstop. If Keith ever comes over and has to go, I'll send him upstairs. But Mick is going down.
For any rock and roller to accept knighthood is absurd, it's the antithesis of the form. I don't think people have made nearly as big a deal out of it as needs to be made. Really though, Mick only hurt himself - 50 years from now, he'll be remembered. But Keith will be REMEMBERED!!
I feel the same way Keith does... but on the other hand, I'm sure Mick must have some feelings about it that he hasn't made public. It is rather ironic that a person who calls themselves a "Rolling Stone" is also called "Sir". Isn't that oxymoronic?
@fistofate Keith's making a lot of sense, but it's like their music. Jagger is plugged into a reality, a different reality. Who's to say it isn't cool to get knighted? The way Richards casts it though, it sort of shakes it all down to Earth. That's why I love the Stones.
@efzt fucking fucking moron. Take your head our your own arse. And if you like monarchies so much then there are many totalitarian states around the world where you can live. So move there and see how good a quality people you find there. The royal family do fuck all and are paid royally for it. They exemplify how snobby and backwards some parts of England still are.
@flybreath Speaking of Royalties,I think the Royal family who he denigrates are alot better quality people than this tatted, decadent scumbucket! And if a peasant like me can say that, perhaps its true? I do like the stones nonethess...the old pre 80's stuff though Voodoo Lounge was good. Now bend over I am going to lick your hairy ol' Aussie pussy! LOL
@efzt Why don't you stop whining and just enjoy it, all music draws influence from somewhere; and if you don't like it, then why the hell are you on this page?
@efzt right im sorry but theres no point coming on here an ripping keith n the guys image for fuk sake, cause hes gunna look abit rough around the edges fukin hell after the life of pure partying n performing how the fuk dou expect a guy to look, not to mention hes knocking on 60 odd years now. stop the shit and just enjoy what great sections they've put out, we all like the music and the image keith n the others have put on the music. if ur not liking the extras that come with it then fuk off
I love Keith, I want him to go on forever, he's hilarious and cool and he keeps it real, never fakes it, and he's a Kent boy born and bred my home county, love him!
Mick Jagger is a pretty girl, and pretty girls as a rule seem to be rotten to the core by the illusion of specialness that others' attention brings them from early age. Hence the attachment to illusionary "titles" and "social status" whore things.
Keith is a real gentleman because a gentleman is to be recognised by their Heart, not by an external title. And a heart Keith DOES have! A huge one! Proud of you Keith!
Most people don't realize that these two have separate management and travel in different buses during tours. They haven't been "friends" since the late 70s. Mick's always been a social climber and the organizing principle behind the band. Without him, the Stones would likely have sunk into oblivion as an obscure blues cover band. Without, Keith, however, no Sticky Fingers, Beggar's Banquet or Exile. I think Mick hates the fact that Keith knows him so well
@birdyboy3333333 I think it's a mistake to imagine they don't get along. Like any two people who are close, especially a couple child hood friends, they're likely to take appallingly different views on a lot of stuff. That's honesty. They are comfortable enough with themselves and each other to disagree. But they agree about a lot of things too. Look at all those albums.
I love Keith, don't we all do in a way we never love Mick. But that said, Keith is struggling when he comes up with hat college crap and Mick deserves a lot more credit for the Stones' biggest hits than he gets in the popular word of mouth.
this makes me laugh so hard my teeth hurt. bring in your 50 th guys

@theartofliving01 mmk shut up please. The Rolling Stones would not be The Rolling Stones without the best lead singer in rock and roll, Mr. Mick Jagger.

They are not 'friends', they are brothers. They were both laughing about it, and you see them collaberate with each other on stage during concerts.

You have to love Keith. I have brothers and we fall out over nothing. These guys are the same.

Mick's just another sycophant, and probably proud to be that. I don't think much of him. He loves being looked up to be working class people, but he definitely looks down on (us) them. Listen to the words of "Salt of the Earth". It might not be what you think....
He's just a sniveling little suckup.
fistofate 1 year ago
@nightskytube: Didn't Keith get an invitation that he deep sixed? I read that from one source, I don't know if it's true.
No, I don't like knighthood or monarchy or any crap like that. It's evil to me. The whole "free market concept" sucks. If those bastards had their way, we wouldn't even have access to beaches along the Pacific Ocean or the parks here in California. It would all be under private ownership or ruined, just like every other dam place. They call anyone who disagrees "socialists"

PAULLONDEN 3 months ago

They got old.
mistomen 1 year ago
@mistomen

I am sure neither of them are all fun all the time, especially when working.
cracks21229 1 year ago
@cracks21229 i think it's more to do with what they stood for. How Mick has changed and gone the complete other way.
For the Mick Jagger of the 60's and 70's to get a knighthood? That's called selling out my friend.
Motownisyourtown 1 year ago
So Mick is a pansy, after all. An MBE?? OMG, what was he thinking? And his smart-ass remark to that reporter also makes him look like a very weak individual. Keith was and is the real McCoy, not only as a musician but as a person. And in my opinion, contrary to what Mick says (and probably Mick himself), I think Keith Richards is actually a secure and contented person, if not deliriously happy. Mick, baby, you're a sad one.

Dustehue928 1 year ago
I have two bathrooms at my house. The upstairs one is clean as a whistle, the downstairs one is like a truckstop. If Keith ever comes over and has to go, I'll send him upstairs. But Mick is going down.
For any rock and roller to accept knighthood is absurd, it's the antithesis of the form. I don't think people have made nearly as big a deal out of it as needs to be made. Really though, Mick only hurt himself - 50 years from now, he'll be remembered. But Keith will be REMEMBERED!!
MultiNickDanger 1 year ago
I feel the same way Keith does... but on the other hand, I'm sure Mick must have some feelings about it that he hasn't made public. It is rather ironic that a person who calls themselves a "Rolling Stone" is also called "Sir". Isn't that oxymoronic?
fistofate 1 year ago

Mick can be bitchy with the best of them. Keith, on the other hand, is still the most honest rocknroller alive. Love ya, Keith!
jamal49 1 year ago
Most people don't realize that these two have separate management and travel in different buses during tours. They haven't been "friends" since the late 70s. Mick's always been a social climber and the organizing principle behind the band. Without him, the Stones would likely have sunk into oblivion as an obscure blues cover band. Without, Keith, however, no Sticky Fingers, Beggar's Banquet or Exile. I think Mick hates the fact that Keith knows him so well
ritter89 1 year ago
Pretty wild to think these two don't really get along
birdyboy3333333 1 year ago
@birdyboy3333333 I think it's a mistake to imagine they don't get along. Like any two people who are close, especially a couple child hood friends, they're likely to take appallingly different views on a lot of stuff. That's honesty. They are comfortable enough with themselves and each other to disagree. But they agree about a lot of things too. Look at all those albums.
nightskytube 1 year ago
I love Keith, don't we all do in a way we never love Mick. But that said, Keith is struggling when he comes up with hat college crap and Mick deserves a lot more credit for the Stones' biggest hits than he gets in the popular word of mouth.
