This app still needs some polish. The sampling CAN be really fun..I love the sampler. But, there's some pops and clicks when mixed with the default samples. Trump the mighty kaoss? Nonononono.. Someday, maybe.
looks like this definitely tops the kaossilator in terms of the same type of design that's based on drawing music into the repeating loop timeline. considering purchasing after viewing the different how-to's and demo videos. i like how you can use it as an instrument free-play, or a tool in the evolution of patterns and rhythms.
I've just bought this, but maybe a little prematurely.
To me, it's lacking two important things.
A metronome, so you can enter patterns to a click rather than trying to get them in time to a flashing pattern.
Auto quantising, so that any slightly off hits are pulled into beat.
It's very frustrating trying to enter patterns in sync, finding they're out and that there's no way to correct them - other than doing the whole thing again.
Groovindj: Take a loop at the gate/arp feature. This allows you to edit patterns of quantization to keep everything in step! there is a user manual detailing this feature, and more at dopplerpad[dot]com!
I realise that the gate/arp could be "misused" like this, but that's not what it's for!
Also it means having to go back and forth between changing the gate/arp pattern, playing something, changing the pattern again, playing the next bit etc.
Thanks for the feedback! We definitely have a lot of plans to continue to add features & improvements.
We definitely intended the gate/arp to be used in the way I described above. I agree, its not exactly the same thing as quantization. Adding quant is something we continue to discuss.
re: metronome (another thing we discuss) I suggest creating your own click track with a basic gate/arp plus a drum sound. If you don't want it in the loop you're working on, just add it to the other touchpad.
I'm sorry, but what is the point of demoing a music tool if you are going to have a pre-composed music track laid over the entire thing?? While I can claim to have heard what the tool itself was doing, I couldn't - great soundtrack if you are demoing a skateboard... music tool = only sound created by awesome device... hence the best track contest?
This would be good to use when you come up with a tune while on the go.
