Photoshop is a great tool but the GIMP is much better because it is free and open source. Just wish it was Aqua!

There is more than just price to consider when making blanket statements like that. Gimp is great for the price but lacks a great many of the features and abilities of Photoshop.

Actually you can make the GIMP MORE powerful than Photoshop! But that's MAKE, Photoshop does not need extra plugin's!
