  • Thank you! I see this was uploaded on Oct. 26th - that's my birthday and this is the song I was named for. Very nice present from the Universe. Oh another thing - Errol Garner was from my hometown, Pittsburgh PA.~ Sweet! The song can be sickeningly sweet and old fashioned, but this version is timeless and my favorite.

  • One person thought it means "Dis I like"

  • 3:43 onwards is pure genius playing

  • "This pianoplaying is completely out of this world,!!! Check from 3:45, how can he play with that speed and swing and in all the different keys with all these chords in his right hand and still not even look at the keyboard, amaaazing !!!! The greatest jazzpianoplayer of all times!"

  • His arrangements are like listening to a symphonic work. So creative.

  • I love how it seems like he purpously tries to confuse his other band mates. That bass player looks especially confused. Haha

  • @lomalindajazz Dear lomalindajazz, His bandmates were never confused. They had telepathic communication. They were able to anticipate his every move and nuance. Looking confused was all a part of the experience for the audience's pleasure. Sincerely, Exquisitesounds Hamilton, Bermuda

  • He's my alltime favourite jazz pianist, but IMO he treats the audience like a group of toddlers here. Playing as he did would have sufficed.

  • @BuckshotLaFunke Apparently you have no idea how to interpret his playing and intros.

  • His talent always amazes me and he brought so much joy to the music. A young musician could learn a lot from watching Erroll Garner.

  • Unique and brilliant. His brain is hard wired to the piano, what you hear is what he's thinking.. It impresses me much more than any classical pianist could.

  • I've never seen a jazz piano player have as much fun as Erroll did ... he really enjoyed his work and his art.... fantastic...

  • Thats true.

A lot of Jazz people can be very boooring

    to watch,but not Erroll.

    And man he swings !!

  • Awesome video! I have the DVD of the entire performance - I got it online from Kultur Records -an outfit in New Jersey.

  • At 3.43 Erroll leaves planet Earth and enters a new dimension, oh boy!

  • "Exactly like you" (also by Erroll) say it!

This is his way of building up a song.

He is genious, my favorite forever

  • You can tell that this man really LOVED playing the piano. Here is where the word 'genius' appropriately applies....to Erroll Garner.

  • Thanks icedrum. I taped this recording over 40 years ago. Now thanks to you I know what it is called and I have it safe and secure.

  • fantastic

  • costaud ce morceau ,joué avec humour et la maitrise incomparable de Garner ....

  • Written by Nathaniel Shilkret for the movie "Lilac Time" starring Colleen Moore and Gary Cooper (1928) - Paramount. Pretty Song.

  • Jeannine ( I dream of lilac time )

  • Thanx!! :-)

  • Wonderful!
