I know this was posted in 09 but Im a fairly new instructor and just wanted to say that while a lot of the moves were not traditional Zumba moves I am certain that I have seen Beto himself do a lot of those moves in the ZIN DVDs that I have recieved so far so I think the negative comments must be from jealously and not from experience.... JMO.... I think the routine is awesome!!!! and just for the record I went to a Jam session and there was one song that had zero traditional zumba moves

J, this is hot choreo moma! I love it. The most important thing about what we do as Zumba instructors is help ppl feel good about themselves and their health. If you are doing that, then you have done your job. There will always be haters. Always, so that should tell you two things; 1. you doing something worthy of attention. 2. you are making a difference. Keeping doing you moma, nobody does it better;)

Anybody who thinks a routine like this is simple should try jumping around like that for 3 1/2 minutes... it's NOT that easy. This is pretty similar to the dance my group does for this song, and let me tell ya, at the end, we're all gasping for air. No matter how "simple" this may look, it's really not. It's about getting your heart rate up and burning calories while having FUN!!! I'd rather do this any day than run on a treadmill...

@zumbaqueen1 This IS actually a Zumba song, being that we use it in the class. As you should already know, we are allowed to do up to 30% of our class with songs that are not Latin, and this is one that we would do. It may not have your "traditional" Zumba steps you see in the DVD's, but this is someone's own ideas to a different song they choose to do in their classroom. Hip Hop qualifies as part of the 30% of the class time. Thanks for the input, but I know EXACTLY what I am saying.

While heavy on the Latin dance style, Zumba is promoted as an INTERNATIONAL dance exercise program. And it does include American dance styles. Zumba corp has included country and rock in their CDs. And done a Waca Waca challenge which is African dance based. So you're telling us that corp is wrong in not doing all Latin dance moves? Uh, no.

As a person who is in Zumba classes every week, multiple times a week, I can assure you this is a Zumba song. The majority of the class does include all of the different latin styles that you listed, but is broken up with this. Its a nice refresher.

@zumbaqueen1 - Wow! I've been teaching Zumba classes for almost 4 years now... I remember when we all used to share choreography with each other and were thankful for it, not critical! Technically, swiveling the hips is done in a lot of Zin choreo and so is the thrusting of the hips they do... I believe those are all reggaeton moves... I am sad to see that Zumba Fitness has now gotten to the point that everyone is arguing and posting negative crap like this... What happened to Zumba Love??

The reason it is so simplified is because there are people from every age group and body type that do Zumba, Of course, some don't understand because they are not familiar with it but that's ok. We have classes with tons of people who love doing it and break a sweat, and that's what it's all about!!

To address the negative comments- Its zumba choreography- not an actual "dance". It is supposed to be repetitive- your class has to be able to follow it. Your average zumba class could have a range of people from teenagers to senior citizens- it has to be easy enough so they wont get frustrated and quit. I think they did a great job.
