@SpiritMolecule1 Cheers. You can adjust the action on either guitar to be as low or high as you want. There'll be some instructional vids on youtube. Just type in "adjusting action on guitar" and something decent will come up. I only get worried when I have to adjust the truss rod. I'd get someone who knows what they are doing to do that if you don't trust yourself to do it.
I am a lefty and am looking to upgrade. do you reccommend this? I was looking between this, the fender MIA strat, or the Ibanez RG1550M. This one is the cheapest, and I havent heard it much besides this video. I play everything but mostly funk.
It's a good guitar for the price but I prefer my Ibanez RG 1570. I would class it as a rock guitar mainly and I don't really play any funk so couldn't comment on whether it would be suitable for you. Sorry.
Luckily it wasn't that much of a pain to put in!It was an instant retro-fit to my guitar, and the only problem that I had with it was that it was a right handed bar, not a left handed bar so instead of the bar pointing towards your strings, its pointing away from the strings, making it look kind of weird.
=] that was very enjoyable to watch, great playing!
I'm curious though...about your guitar..
You see, I'm a lefty also, and I own an Ibanez 370DXL. Its the only guitar I own with a trem...but the thing is, The little pop out arm on the Edge 3 somewhat bothers me...so I was looking for a guitar with more of an arm that screws in. I was wondering what your thoughts were about your Jackson, preferably about the Tremolo system and the neck. if you could help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it.=]=]
Cheers dude. The trem on both my Jackson guitars are the screw in versions. They stay in place, which I prefer, rather than swing about. Hope you find that helpful.
I just got my jackson dk2l wednesday...Its awesome but the person I bought it from lost the whammy bar and I bought a new one, i put it in but it doesnt fit I then bend the whammy bar and it breaks part of the thing the the bolt screws on and I am not sure if it will work if I get the right sized bar.HELP!!?!!
WTF!?! Dude, as soon as you realised the wammy bar didn't fit you should have removed it! I don't know how extensive the damage is as I obviously can't see it. You should take it to a reputable guitar mechanic as soon as possible. It could be something really simple to fix or, and I don't want to scare you, it could need the entire floyd rose replacing. Hope it gets sorted!
i went to the guitar center.....and I have to get the whole floyd rose replaced...but I found a fully licensed floyd rose tremolo in gold for 55 bucks and I know a person who could install the tremolo for me...I am so relieved...
I have $1000 saved and im not sure to purchase this dinky or the RG1550. I've never tried a maple fretboard, so im not sure how the RG will hold up. I heard the freatboard is smooth and fast but the low end is pretty crappy. I plan to play in drop tunning so im not sure if the RG is the one. What's your take on the two. Which would you recommend? AWESOME playing by the way.
Get an RG1570 instead. All part of the prestige series. Long ago I was in your position myself and I'm very glad that I went with the choice. The fretboard is the smoothest (and thinnest) I've ever played on, something that takes getting used to for the first week or two. After that you'll never want to go back.
Stock pick-ups that are in there aren't the best quality though. I'd recommend using the ~150 dollars you have left to build in evo's. Cheers and good luck with your decision!
I have never played an RG1550 so can't really comment on it. I've got an RG1570 and a couple of Jackson's and would honestly find it very hard to choose between them. I prefer playing different songs on different guitars. Like Argonien says, the prestige necks are VERY smooth and thin and the joint doesn't have a heel so it's really easy to reach the high notes but I really prefer the trem on the Jackson's. Sorry for being little help!!!
Thanks for the comments. This is really solidified my decision. I didn't like the maple fretboard on the RG1550 and that was the only option for left handed at Guitar Center. I did a little research and found out the RG1570 is now discontinued. I managed to order one of the last RG1570s in stock at Sam Ash. The list price was at US$1,199 but because it was discontinued the price was dropped to US$799!! She comes in next week!! Thanks again!!
I live in Britain so I got it from a British guitar store where they shipped it from the states for me. You'll be able to find one on line somewhere i'm sure.
Ta. I've never played an ESP so can't really comment on it. I've got an Ibanez RG as well and would find it hard to choose between that and the Dinky. My first guitar was a crappy strat copy as well. I've still got it!!
awesome playing man! a question, does the strings on this guitar have the same low distance to the neck as ibanez guitars?
