Hi i got my LG KF700 on the 18th October 2008 and iv only just noticed that my phone does not have movie maker and drawing where as when i watch you tube videos on this phone everyone else has it. Iv checked my instruction manual and it doesnt talk about them but i dont understand why they would down grade it considering the videos were uploaded in april 08? Can anyone answer my question? Yes the front camera can be used as a normal camera although the quality won't be too great.

The Bluetooth on this handset will allow you to transfer pictures, videos, documents, and much more and will also allow you to use bluetooth headsets also. Stereo bluetooth is playing music via bluetooth it is reffered to as A2DP sometimes.

The phone comes with a good screen protector, we have been using ours for a while and removed the screen protector which is almost invisible and the phone's screen was still looking good :)

Unfortunately no video editing suite but it has the image editing suite :)

Sorry to be a pain lol but i've just been reading some reviews about this phone on the o2 website. Some people are saying that this phones battery is rubbish, its slow and its a rubbish camera! Ok, the phone as a mobile phone is good, it has bluetooth which supports sending music files, images, etc and it will sync with a bluetooth headset, etc. Whilst we agree that the camera isn't the greatest we still love the image editing suite we used on it. Music wise it has a decent music player but it still didn't have things like a equalizer to adjust the sound.

As an all round phone we liked using...

Look at the range of Sony Ericsson Walkman products especially - W902 & W980 we would also consider the new up and coming Nokia 5800 Xpress Music :)

This handset is a nice handset not sure about better than the iPhone as the touch capablities on the iPhone are surpass this handset however features wise it could measure up if we are talking about iPhone 2G.

The touch is fine we are still using the prototype and its been through hell and back and its still works fine. The Jog wheel at the back you only really use for the quick menu otherwise its not really needed :)

We actually like this phone because it has some good multimedia functions such as the image editing suite but we wished we could add themes or create them via the handset or the fact that they didn't include the video editing suite from the Viewty.

Overall we like it as a mobile phone with some extra features and the fact that it combines a touch screen with a keypad is also good for those who are new to touch screen phones :)

We agree that the camera is not the best but the image editing suite on the handset is fun to use and the battery we have to disagree with. We are still using a prototype and we recieve a lot of calls and for long durations and we have experienced good battery life.

No probs - you can play MP4 files on this handset and video recording is ok - not brilliant.

The Viewty is a much better phone in our eyes because of its camera technology and multimedia capablities - DivX video support being one of them plus brilliant recording quality - slow motion as well!

Perhaps you should wait for the forthcoming LG Renior - everything the Viewty has but even more :) plus 8 mega pixel :)

The handset overall is ok and has some nice features such as the image ediing suite whereby you can change and add various things to brighten up your pics or make them more fun!

Touch screen wise it is accurate with haptic technology - the vibrational response you get when touching the screen. You can even calibrate the handset and teach it how you touch the screen.

First: Menu > Settings > Screen > Screen Theme > Home Screen > Use Existing Image > Select your pic

Second: OK (quick menu button underneath scroll wheel) > Album > OK > Double tap your pic > Tao the middle option on the right side > Adjust the pic how you want it > Done :)

You will get a screen protector in the box, as longs as you use this the screen will be fine. Make sure you get some more screen protectors as the protectors will get grubby over time.

1. The speaker quality is ok when playing music aloud and the loudspeaker is pretty good in close proximity.

2. You can use music for ringtones and message tones - in fact you can even use a actual video :)

3. I think this is more network dependent. Depending on signal this handset can take up to 10 secs to find signal but we didn't have any difficulties during testing

4. No, we have put around this amount and the phone was fine.....

Hey PHaitiano,

I don't think this handset will arrive in the US according to our source here in the UK. You can buy it unlocked in Europe but remember the handset here work on 900/1800/1900 frequencies whereas in the US you guys use 850/1900 and in some places you need the 850 otherwise you'll get no signal.

Not sure of the cheapest place but i'm sure a hunt around on google will find you some friendly sellers :)

This is tough because we love the Viewty its just that the Secret has a little more fun to offer with the Wii like gaming experience and the new fast motion video recording.

That's right you will need to get it from O2 directly or an authorised O2 Re-seller like The Carphone Warehouse or Phones 4U. However you can purchase off line or on Pay As You Go and pop any SIM card providing it is unlocked.

Unlocking is not illegal if you use an authorised party like O2 or an LG directly. Normally manufacturers don't get involoved however contacting O2 may help :)

Yes there is the KU990 is the 3G European version that we use in all our videos and the KE990 is the US version that uses EDGE rather than 3G technology for connecting to the internet. EDGE is a slower connection that HSDPA/3G.

Plus the KE990 is built more for the US due to the GSM frequencies as the KU990 will read 900/1800/1900 which is perfect for the Euro customer however the KE990 is 850/1800/1900.

Well pretty much these are the only things that have changed from what we have been told. There maybe UI/menu system differences dependng upon the service provider's requirements.

Check with T-Mobile regarding the frequency support and ensure that you do not loose signal whilst out and about because we know some providers switch frequencies depending upon which area you are in.

On the LG KF700 you can only enter text via one method which is using the keypad. However if you like the touch screen appeal we would reccommend either the LG Viewty or the Samsung F4800 aka Tocco.

Well touch screen phones now are actually quite good especially those with haptic technology - everytime you touch the screen the handset vibrates. We have found that texting isn't that bad - slightly slower than your normal keypad but I am sure you'll get used to it in no time. Perhaps try and pop to a store to test one out. The other option is to try a handset that combines both so you get the best of both worlds - fast texting because of the keypad

The LG Viewty is the more superior in terms of functionality and specification as it has the full editing suite both image and movie editing plus the DivX recording and playback support, 5 mega pixel camera with schneider lens - has done Kodak lens. There are so many more other features that just make this handset so fun to use :)

The image editing suite is almost the same as the Viewty only a couple of things you can't do but things like adding text and stamps to the image, colour swap and plent of other things you can do!

The only thing that is missing from the editing side on this handset is the Video editing suite and Muvee Studio :(

1. The Sync software is ok not as easy to understand as Nokia but it's ok. We are planning on doing various sync software videos over the next few days and will be posting online. The software can sync with Outlook but we know that its not as straight forward as Nokia :)

2. From what we understand O2 sim lock their handsets unfortunatley. It's pretty easy now to unlock from a local dealer.

To mute the sound whilst texting you will need to switch off keypad tones. To do this do the following:

Menu > Settings > Phone Settings > Scroll up to see Touch Screen Effect > Now Choose Vibration if you only want it to vibrate on touch > Save

I am in USA. Can this phone be used on any network? Which would you recommend between this and Viewty disregading price. I love texting, recording and just playing with my phone. Thank you.

If you don't mind slightly slower texting then we would reccommend the Viewty however if you are a big texting fan and like speed then for usability we steer you towards the KF700. When using the Viewty you will get a haptic feedback which is the vibrational response when touching the screen - much easier.

Viewty does surpass the KF700 in terms of multimedia functionality.

The display on the Viewty looks slightly larger, though the spec of both is 3in (I think), and the KF700 has a higher resolution - is this just some strange optical illusions due to the Viewty being bigger overall, or is the KF700 display smaller?

Also, is the KF700 suitable for reading PDFs?

The size of the screen for both the Viewty and the KF700 are exactly the same - where they differ is the screen resolution for the Viewty is 240x400 and the KF700 is 240x480.

The KF700 is a good size and excellent size for reading PDF's because of the zoom control using the jog wheel.

The handset will only play the first 7-10 seconds of the song when recieving a message.

However you can choose to have constant reminders just in case you didn't hear it the first time. Choose anything from every mintue to every 10 mintues.

O2 do not sell the handset on PAYG yet but it is possible - we will find out if and when O2 start to sell it on PAYG. If they do it will probably cost around £180 - we think.

I bought this phone last week and love it!

Great video you've posted too.

The only thing that bugs me is that when I set the phone to vibrate, it vibrates for calls but not when I receive a txt message. The txt ringtone always cuts off short too.

Do I have a buggy phone or am I being thick?!

LOL, no your not being thick! You just need to be a little bit clever and trick the phone. Try the following:

Settings > Profiles > Customised * > Edit > Alert = Ring & Vibration, Volume = 0. Then Activate and now your phone will vibrate for both Calls and Text Messages.

does this have a qwerty touch keyboard? The problem I had with the viewty is that it does not use the full 3 inch screen on pictures and videos. Is it the same with this phone? Also, the viewty was extremely slow in turning on its camera and retrieving photos. Is it the same with this phone?

No QWERTY keyboard as the main advantage is the sliding keypad.

When you refer to not being able to view both picutres and video using the full screen what do you mean? We found during our testing that the handset uses the full screen for video footage depending on the resolution of the video and for pictures when prevewing your pictures it doesn't use the full screen. It shows you the resolution the picture was taken in.

... is one of the quickest in the industry with Samsung G600 being the quickest. However we sympathise in regards to the Viewty will slow down when the memory starts to get approx 50-60% full. The KF700 handles it a little better so you're not as effected.

Tough decision - If you're looking for high end technology including 5 mega pixel camera, DivX recording and playing support then the Viewty is for you.

However if you like to text more then we feel that the KF700 (Virgo) is a better option plus it has some menu and usage (UI) improvements.

This is a tri-band handset so it has the ability to work in the US. However please ensure that you get it unlocked (sim free) otherwise you will only be able to put O2 SIM cards in the device - which is no good in the US.

However we just found out that LG will be launching an accessories site plus further support links.

So you will be able to order the same stylus /pen as the Viewty and hook it onto the back of the phone.
