@daiquirikiss ahh? why did you quit its such a fun game when you play competitively on wi-fi. I meen really the Anime (cartoon) is for 4 year olds but I'd like to see a 4-9 year old beat the game and I'd like to see a 4-14 year old beat me or other grate battlers on youtube..I bet you think your all grown up to even pass time playing it... and your probably thinking Im some silly Mexican whos a big nerd for video games but your probably wrong :D
Nice review! I actually just got the 1st game you mentioned (lol I can't remember the name to save my life) Anyway, I think you should also mention that there's a very helpful bookmark function in the dictionary! It really helps me review the kanji that I want to really work on! + After your review I think I'm going to get kakitori kun! thanks! :D
Do you know the differences between the new one and the old one? I ordered the new one without realizing there were 2 versions of the game. Is it worth getting both versions?
Fantastic! I can finally make use of my DS now, haha. Thanks for tips.
For dictionary purposes I use my iPhone, there are a bunch of Japanese language related apps, including some that allow you to draw the kanji and some which speak the words/phrases. Those are also for iPod touch too, if anyone is interested.
Personally, I use "Kotoba!," "Kanji," "Translator," and "Japanese Phrases Lite." All but Kanji was free.
Thanks for the reply, I've just got the game now and trying to get use to it. So I'm watching your video again. I'm already familiar with some of the Kanji words but the game doesn't tell you what the word is in hiragana or what it means does it?
actually it does. The definition is in Japanese. When a word/kanji pops up that you don't know, tap it and go to 熟語じゅくご (jukugo). scroll with the green arrow as you please and find the word you need. If that doesn't work for you, you can download JWPce 1.5 which is a japanese-english dictionary made for the computer from Jim Breen. His dictionary is ok... but he has a lot of complicated words that Japanese people don't even know the meaning of.
I actually ordered the new version of "Tadashii Kanji Kakitori-kun" about a week and a half ago, and I am currently awaiting for it to arrive! (slow mail service!) This video has been REALLY GREAT to show how the game works, and makes me feel so much better about my purchase! I cannot wait for my copy of the game to actually arrive now! *haha* Great job! And the best of luck to you on your Japanese language learning adventure!
do you play pokémon?

Omg! I didn't know that you could press the little square and find out what a kanji means... awesome haha. That's definetly helpful... ^^;

i bought kakitorikun. but it differs quite a lot from the one you showed!
there is different options and also the cover looks different. (its bigger than on yours)
is this a different game or a newer version?
does anyone know?
thanx
bresophil 2 years ago
there's two different versions of kakitorikun. You probably got the newer version that focuses on other aspects of kanji.
daiquirikiss 2 years ago
ok i found some info on that. thanks a lot :)

I'd suggest My Japanese Coach for those that know nothing. It's a good starter.

Hi I was just wondering does it have any english at all?
sarooar 3 years ago
no, it doesn't. Since this game is designed for Japanese school children, it doesn't have English available.
