i dunno matt damon''s wasn't very good. Sheen was doing more of a Kennedy upper-class boston accent. But Damon's gf in this movie, whatever her name was, was awful. Sometimes she forgot to drop the R's, other times she went way over the top. She was almost as bad as the female skipper from the perfect storm. watch that trailer and you'll see what i mean.

wellll, he's from cambridge and had a pretty nice upbringing, so he didn't have the hard townie accent he tries to play here. he lived in somerville in college and went to harvard for christ's sake. i mean, it's easy for us to nitpick because we're from boston, but for the mainstream American audience, he was passable. but the chick in this movie was just ridiculous. sometimes she sounded like she was trying to sound like Carmella Soprano, other times no accent at all.

Best scene in the film although it doesn't make a huge amount of sense to me.

1) I don't think DiCaprio would ever admit to being a cop because he would know that if he did, he'd be suffering a whole lot more.

2) Nicholson's attitude to the Mafia seems to be that he can just kill them whenever he pleases without consequence for him. That definitely wouldn't be true. In any case, he came across as a pretty useless criminal in this film and his acting wasn't so great either!

@dcasey77 In Boston the Irish crews had(maybe even have) more power then Mafia. It's their territory. Costello's character is based on Whitey Bulger, who was huge in the underworld.
