If anyone did any real research the would find out that it is in fact Lubbock, not Tech, that has a high STD rate. Furthermore Texas Tech's engineering program is ranked in the top 25 in the nation, not even UT is in there. I am not saying that Tech is better then UT because I think UT is a great University. I used to think that A&M was a great school too, but after reading some of these comments I realize how arrogant and ignorant some of their students are.

But that's besides the point, what I wanted to get across was that despite what some people say Tech is a great school. I have friends and family who went to the same high school as me that go to UT and A&M. Does that mean they suddenly became better than me just because they went to UT or A&M? I am sure they do not think that. Like i said i think both school are great, but so is Tech.

According to the chart, 94% of Texas A&M's football players from 2004 through 2005 were admitted as "special admits". Other offenders were Iowa State with 21% from 2000 through 2001 and Oklahoma with 81% from 2002 through 2003.

Just thought I'd weigh in with a different perspective on ATM. I was a jr. college athlete and traveled all over the U.S. competing. Our team was always treated with respect and courtesy everywhere we competeted, EXCEPT ATM. We were treated terribly on more than one occasion. I went on to compete at Tech and once again, we were treated great everywhere except ATM. I have since spoken to other college athletes from different schools who have had the same experience. What's the deal ATM?
Some of the different colleges at A&M out perform others across the nation... for example; the Mays School of Business has the highest success rate for students passing the challenging CPA exam on the first attempt, 83% success rate. The overall pass rate for students nationwide is 44% and 50% in the state of Texas (excluding Texas A&M's scores). A&M also had more students take the exam than any other school in Texas (t.u. was the closest other school with only 195 next to A&M's 330).
Sounds like you made a good choice then. There's more to a university than stats about how well its student body performed on standardized tests as a whole, though. If you're using that to make your decision you've missed the boat. To me you'd want to look at the strength of a particular degree program within the university. Mays is a good school. Tech has strong programs, too...most any university will, depending on what you're looking for.
The average median SAT score of a student at A&M is 1745 (of 2400) compared to Tech's 1595 (and almost 3/4 of A&M students submitted their scores, only 2/3 did so at Tech)... as for the average median ACT scores, A&M at 25.5 and Tech at 23.5... so I'm not sure what kind of standards you want to call low, but Texas A&M has some of the highest standards for a top-tier, public, state university anywhere.
I was recently confronted by some dumb-ass from Tech claiming that the academic standards at Tech are higher than those at A&M... Here is some proof that everyone can examine to disprove these accusations.
All of the nerdy, smart girls in my high school went to Rice. All of the fun, beautiful girls with intellect went to A&M or UT. All of the prissy bitches went to Baylor. And lastly, all of the slutty, stupid, ditsy girls went to Tech or Texas State . In the meantime, A&M is consistently known for its good reputation. ESPN dubs at as having the greatest, most spirited fan base. It is consistently ranked as one of the top universities in the state, academically. The sports program is pretty good, considering all sports.
Facts: A&M has a more accomplished football team, all-time, than Tech. A&M has a better academic reputation than Tech. A&M fans have a better reputation than Tech fans. A&M has a better athetlic program, all-time, than Tech. Look up the numbers. Of course, A&M isn't the greatest in the state academically or athletically. So A&M prides itself in its spirited fan base and traditions, which is a CONSTANT factor (rather than sports, because teams have bad years).

If anyone did any real research the would find out that it is in fact Lubbock, not Tech, that has a high STD rate. Furthermore Texas Tech's engineering program is ranked in the top 25 in the nation, not even UT is in there. I am not saying that Tech is better then UT because I think UT is a great University. I used to think that A&M was a great school too, but after reading some of these comments I realize how arrogant and ignorant some of their students are.

I must admit it is really challenging and classes here are not easy(unless youre sum ag major) Nevertheless, this school does suck and the trditions are lame and stupid. Check out Mark Alesia of the Indy Star with a look at special admits for athletes. According to the chart, 94% of Texas A&M's football players from 2004 through 2005 were admitted as "special admits". Other offenders were Iowa State with 21% from 2000 through 2001 and Oklahoma with 81% from 2002 through 2003.
Meanwhile, there were five Big 12 teams (Nebraska, Texas Tech, Texas, Colorado, and Kansas State) did not have ANY special admits.

Just thought I'd weigh in with a different perspective on ATM. I was a jr. college athlete and traveled all over the U.S. competing. Our team was always treated with respect and courtesy everywhere we competeted, EXCEPT ATM. We were treated terribly on more than one occasion. I went on to compete at Tech and once again, we were treated great everywhere except ATM. I have since spoken to other college athletes from different schools who have had the same experience. What's the deal ATM?

Some of the different colleges at A&M out perform others across the nation... for example; the Mays School of Business has the highest success rate for students passing the challenging CPA exam on the first attempt, 83% success rate. The overall pass rate for students nationwide is 44% and 50% in the state of Texas (excluding Texas A&M's scores). A&M also had more students take the exam than any other school in Texas (t.u. was the closest other school with only 195 next to A&M's 330).

Sounds like you made a good choice then. There's more to a university than stats about how well its student body performed on standardized tests as a whole, though. If you're using that to make your decision you've missed the boat. To me you'd want to look at the strength of a particular degree program within the university. Mays is a good school. Tech has strong programs, too...most any university will, depending on what you're looking for.

The average median SAT score of a student at A&M is 1745 (of 2400) compared to Tech's 1595 (and almost 3/4 of A&M students submitted their scores, only 2/3 did so at Tech)... as for the average median ACT scores, A&M at 25.5 and Tech at 23.5... so I'm not sure what kind of standards you want to call low, but Texas A&M has some of the highest standards for a top-tier, public, state university anywhere.

All of the nerdy, smart girls in my high school went to Rice. All of the fun, beautiful girls with intellect went to A&M or UT. All of the prissy bitches went to Baylor. And lastly, all of the slutty, stupid, ditsy girls went to Tech or Texas State . The same can be applied to nerdy (Rice), or cool (A&M/UT), or uptight (Baylor), or loser/social reject guys (TTU, TSU).

If you go to the official Big XII website you'll find my reference to Tech placing second in the conference four (4) times, but that is assuming you can count. And yes, Tech did lose to you guys in 1997, but perhaps we look at '01 when you were shut out, or that over the past 3 years shA&Me has been outscored 122-51 Hey! that's almost half! keep up the tradition! A&M beat # 2 ranked Kansas St in the Big 12 Title game, dipshit, how could you dare dispute that? Don't bitch about the schedule, A&M played 2 of the nation's top 5 (lost to Florida State, beat Nebraska) in the regular season, then faced 2 more of the nation's top 5 in Kansas State & Ohio State (lost to them in the Sugar Bowl). It was a kickass season, which TTU has never equaled.
The Aggies have won 2 Big 12 South titles, TTU hasn't ever come close. And, as mentioned, more SWC Titles.

In the meantime, A&M is consistently known for its good reputation. ESPN dubs at as having the greatest, most spirited fan base. It is consistently ranked as one of the top universities in the state, academically. The sports program is pretty good, considering all sports.

Facts: A&M has a more accomplished football team, all-time, than Tech. A&M has a better academic reputation than Tech. A&M fans have a better reputation than Tech fans. A&M has a better athetlic program, all-time, than Tech. Look up the numbers. Of course, A&M isn't the greatest in the state academically or athletically. So A&M prides itself in its spirited fan base and traditions, which is a CONSTANT factor (rather than sports, because teams have bad years).

I know you are desperately trying to sound affluent and educated, but this is a football page, not a beauty pageant. And all the pretty little words you are using don't take away from the fact than on the field, Tech knocks the "class" right out of you year after year. So all you have is words and we have the wins. Yes, Texas has beautiful, affluent areas, but College Station? Give me a break. It's even too ugly for a sewage treatment plant.

It may not be the nicest place in Texas, and I'll admit it's lacking in things to do, but it sure looks a hell of a lot better than that yellow, ugly, tree-less prairie up there in the Panhandle.
"Year after year?" Too bad A&M still leads the all-time series, despite Tech's recent dominance over disappointing A&M squads. Put up or shut up; win some sort of championship.

Let me spell it out for you, nimwit: I WAS TALKING ABOUT SCENIC BEAUTY. GREEN+TREES=PRETTY. BROWN/YELLOW+NO TREES=UGLY. That's the difference between College Station and Lubbock, respectively.
I already said there isn't a whole lot to do in College Station. Then again, there is no more to do there than in Lubbock. However, CS is not far from Houston, San Antonio, Austin, and even Dallas. Good access/location.
