In 1976, President Gerald Ford put an end to all public cannabis research and granted exclusive research rights to major pharmaceutical companies. These companies set out-unsuccessfully-to develop synthetic forms of THC that would deliver all the medical benefits without the high.”

The Federal Government officially insists that Cannabis has “no medical value” and schedules it accordingly under the Controlled Substance Act. Yet the Federal Government is the owner of US Patent 6630507 “Cannabinoids as Antioxidants and Neuroprotectants” issued Oct 7 2003.

In 1974 researchers at the Medical College of Virginia conducted a cannabis study funded by the National Institute of Health, the DEA, and several private endowments. They were essentially tasked with demonstrating that THC damages the immune system. But then, in direct opposition to the preconceived notion of immune system damage, it was instead found that THC slowed the growth of three kinds of cancer in mice; breast, lung, and virally introduced leukemia.

Apoptosis: According to Wikipedia, “the process of programmed cell death (PCD) that may occur in multicellular organisms. Biochemical events lead to characteristic cell changes (morphology) and death.”

Such a substance could fairly be considered the “Holy Grail” of cancer treatment.

Beginning in 1974 research has consistently demonstrated that the active compound in Cannabis (THC, and/or one or more of the constituent Cannabinoids) has those remarkable properties.

For such a usually brilliant man Webster is miles off base with his stance on substance prohibition.....ESPECIALLY cannabis.

Webster, did you not know that since at least 1999, THOUSANDS of studies worldwide have shown that THC can CURE CANCER. Yes cure.

Did you not know that the Gov. has a patent on THC 10/703? U.S. Patent (#6630507) for any and all uses and applications of Cannabinoids as antioxidants and neuroprotectants.
