  • Package too was hacked. Under a grey sticker where 16 gig was writen, peeling it away let show 2 Gig. Learning more about fake cards, I could compare a genuine label vs fake. Transcend has a rainbow at top, color fade gently on real, but poorly on fake. Lock button is white on fake but yellow on real. To me, from a bad experience that was buying this card, it became OK cause I've been learning since 3 days ago when flash card arrived home. Friends, read about fake cards, and be anti-fake fan!!!

  • I was a lucky one to get refund. I test card as soon as I got it by ''feedind'' stuff in it. 16 Gig CLASS10 was pretty slow writing. Then I saw very few data were loaded, rest gone in the twilight zone. I've then contact seller, who answered me 9 hours later - 12 hours delay-. He said he was sorry and ready to refund. After few e-mail he realy dit it. Now, how can I say it's fake? Searching about fake cards I discovered H2testw software. Everyone should get it and it's FREE (a must). Read next.

  • lol oh man ,how do u even make money buying wholesales at 20 a peice.Thats only 14 bucks.I hope you sell like 20 a month

  • I buy these things at bestbuy so if anything i can just return it.

  • And this could be one of the reasons "i am extremely terrified of chinese people" is one of the most searched phrases on google

  • Theses Chinese people did this to me too. It was a Datatraveler 200. I use flash drives to transport data from my computer to my xbox 360, I purchased this drive simply because I'd like to have a larger flash drive. I wasn't sure what was wrong since it was showing the free space on my computer, but when I placed it in my xbox, it showed me the actual capacity and stated the device was not configured properly. That's when I knew it was a bogus drive.

  • this is mainly correct info, but do note that the price per gigabyte he mentioned is no longer accurate, but overall the advise is right :), i buy a shit ton from china but the 2 main things to note is (dont expect actual brands 99% are fake, and watch out with flash memory (flash drives, sd cards, ssd drives) and things including rechargeable batteries (they often come with faulty chargers or dont have overcharge protection so if you charge em for too long they can explode)

  • Thank you. You just saved us a lotta trouble friend.:)

  • lol

    256gb flashdrive = a portable computer

  • When you're on a budget, ebay can either be Gods-gift to the poor man or the worst thing that has ever happened to you. And you know what? Amazon suffers from the same thing, at least with SD Cards, you often get fake or used ones sold as new, and they send them to you in the shadiest looking packages. I once bought a 4GB SanDisk-- very cheap. When I got it in the mail, it came in this yellow-padded envelop and inside it was just the card and the plastic holder. Since it worked, no refund for me

  • @Kingnothing8585 You stated Amazon was the same. Did you get the product you were reffering to on eBay or Amazon? I'm just couriuos, because I got ripped by Chinese people on eBay. I had a tad more trust in Amazon.

  • Comment removed

  • hate fucking chinese

    shit people

  • I actually think I was lucky, cause I got a 16gb flash drive off ebay for cheap and it works fine.

  • Hi I've just purchased Kingston DT310 256Mb for 250$ on eBay, what can You say about? Does it looks fake for this prise

  • I've bought loads of stuff from China TOP CLASS is my opinon, but as you say there R people out there to rip you off. Most of the trouble I've had from rip off's is in Europe France, Spain ect... Unfortunetly there are lots of Countries doing it!

Thanks for your videos I like!!!

  • I was had on the exact same 16gb flash drive only had 4 gbs

  • thank you so much. almost bought 5 of these fake things.

  • NEWBONEW com sold me 30 x 32GB drives and they're crap. Put data on and it corrupts.

I can't sell them. I'll probably throw them away unless there's a way of restoring the original smaller size. Anyone know how to do it?

Does anyone know how to report them and get them in trouble?

  • Thanks for this. Reminds me of the MSDN Windows 7 key I was sold on ebay. Couldn't believe it.. the seller wasn't based in China but a nice clean cut young Oklahoman. His backup service was excellent and he was a really nice kid. That is probably why he got away with it.. I certainly didn't have the heart to get heavy when I finally realised his game. Flashymemory could we have a link to your site?

  • What if you're buying flash drives from a USA seller?

  • Not everything cheap has to be a fake for it to work.

  • what is ebay doing about this?

  • can you give me link here or on pm, where to buy actual 32gb micro sd card -.- ?? Best Regards

  • i just bidded for a 32GB flash drive on eBay

the bidding price starts at £0.99 and there is free p&p do u think this is fake or do u think this really is 32GB its from hong kong btw someone reply to this comment please thanks :)

  • & i also want every seller on ebay selling anything not genuine to be removed n banned permanently.

& seller fees are a fucking joke too, they need to be dropped massively, should be a listing fee of 5 p then 50p to them NO MUCH THE ITEM SELLS FOR, THEY GET 50P MAX

seller fees are too much & i can barely profit

  • iv been scammed twice in a row for a micro sd, got full refund the 1st time n awaiting a response now as iv just realised the new genuine looking 1 iv just got is a fake also SERIOUSLY people, pay the right money & get a proper card 1st time, dont try save money on stuff like this

  • I was just about to buy a cheap Kingston drive ... keyword, WAS.

    thanks !

  • damn the china man!! cool vid man

  • Great info. Is it just Ebay, or other places, such as amazon?

  • Just bid like crazy but never pay. Get permission from Paypal/eBay first. You have to contact Kingston and really nag them to get eBay to allow you to. Err, it is easy as hell to make your address whatever you want, so address is no longer a sign..

  • great video, thanks for informing people!

  • So theres this seller one ebay. 123-456-789-0. Hes selling 2 kingston 256gbs. Is this fake? There auctioned really cheap so i want to be cautious. His location claims to be america if that helps, oh and he has all positive feedback.

  • Hey My Friend

    Few Days Ago

Ebay HAs Removed The Listing Allready (ive paid allready)

Even If This Microsd Card will Arraive

What Can I Do To Get My Money Back?!?

How Can i Proof This Is A Fake One To Paypal To recive my money back?

    Thanks Alot...

    KippeR

  • @kipper0407 Just file a case with eBay. Go to "My eBay" and then to the "Won" section on the left hand side. Once there you should see the transaction. You can click on "More Actions" to the right of that transaction and you will see a Resolve Problem function. Click that and file a case as "Item not as described".

  • yes thats right..i'm one of the victim of those china fake flash drive... i lost all of my documents because i trusted the china flash drive to save all my files...

  • @tquibido :(

  • Thanks for that. Unfortunately I can't lock the gate after the horse has bolted!

I bought a Kingston 64gb at a market. Sealed and very nice looking. It seems to be very slow so I'm just waiting for it to crash. Live and learn, but DO learn!

  • hey i have a kingston 256 gb hard driver i buy it for 22 dollare and it work

  • @mazambulla lol, you're either one of the scammers attempting to lend credibility to your scams, or you haven't actually tried to fill the drive up. 256gb flash drive for $22? Lets use our heads, shall we?

  • @flashymemory i had bought 2 originals 8gb dt travellers 1.5 year afo...one is working perfectly the other stopped a year ago as a ''not recognized device''....i tried evr...drivers...creating folders for drivers as i suggested...searched a lot for it...nth...i just opened it now even to reset it manually somehow from its chip...still nth...i wanna say...even originals some time will turn out to be malfunctioned....of course kingston produce them in china but with different materials and design

  • @mazambulla if 1 dollare is equal to 5 dollars, i can say it's a bit possible....otherwise u and ur product are fake

  • Curses. Wish I'd had a clue and checked vids like this before I went ahead and bought a 16GB flash stick for £13 last week. From China. Doesn't work. Trying it with H2testw.exe right now.

    Thanks for posting the vid.

  • Yeah I bought it from grandtechdigital, how do I send it back, I need assistance sense Paypal and ebay r useless!

  • Hello there! I had just been hoodwinked with a fake 32 GB micro sdhc with a fake capacity. You know the story well, but what made me think that I was safe was because of the feedback rating (100% when I bought it, but now 99.2%) and the "powerseller" tag and icon. SanDisk doesn't deliver to my country (Australia) so I had no choice without waiting for them to enter our market perhaps months from now. How do I know the honest vendors from the cheats?

  • @GryphonHall Honestly I wouldn't even bother buying flash drives, or any memory drive (SD cards, etc) on eBay anymore. It's overrun with scammers. I stopped selling those products awhile ago and so did many other honest sellers. Can't compete with the thieves unfortunately. People see those low prices and can't help themselves.

  • @flashymemory I feel bad for you. I bought a 32gb for cheap =( wish i hadn't done that

  • very good video thanks but i already got samed i bought a 16 gb kingston the box looks genuine and the usb data traveler looke real too but it has like 1 gb thanks 4 the vid anyway

  • Hi, I recently purchased a 128 gb kingston flashdrive on ebay off of a chinese seller for around 25-30 dollars and now I am regreting this purchase since it has not arrived yet, I already payed for this item and if it arrives and I prove it is false, then what can I do? If I return it to the selelr for a refund then will ebays protection program help me pay off the shipping as well?

    Thanks for the video btw.

  • @spikes4298 It's definitely fake for that price. eBay is very buyer friendly and you'll have no problem at all getting your money back. All you have to do is log into your eBay/PayPal account and open a dispute with them. Just tell them that the item you purchased is "significantly not as described". They'll have you return the item to the seller and issue you a refund when it arrives back to them. If the seller is in China you may run into some problems. PM me on here and I'll try to help.

  • I jsut got scammed buying a drive.

    Checking it now with H2Test

    THanks Flashy....

  • But If you bought 1 on ebay, & it arrived. Do I still have a chance of getting my money back? Cuz if itz fake Itz all bull shit.

  • Just happened to me with an MP4 player, supposed to be 32GB, it's really like one or two GB. I've already got file corruption on it.

  • hey flashy.. thanks for this vid..really cleared my mind..im from the philippines and i saw some really cheap Kingston 128Gb usbs.. and was really in the mood to create a paypal and buy one.. i kind of had doubts when i saw 3 different sellers with the same description of the usb and they're even offering 5 years of warranty.. flashy.. how much is a 128GB usb usually? thanks..

  • 128gb flash drives are currently $250+. The ones selling for $30 on eBay are fake and probably have a real capacity of 4-8gb.

  • thanks so much for this video. I got one for 27 dollars 128gb.

  • please don't use the faked memory flash drives,i bought one from ebay, and it said it had a 16GB capacity, but it wouldn't hold more than 4GB actually, all files i saved to it got lost, and some files from my computer got damaged after i copied them to this pen drive.i was lucky because i only saved musics and some pictures that i still have saved in my camera's memory, and it's easy to get all back.

  • Very true, some think they are saving money, but really they will likely get a smaller capacity of bad memory that could potentially lose valuable information. It's just not worth the risk.

  • i bought a 128gb datatraveler for 28.60 and i ran the h2testw. it verified and wrote the full capacity of the drive with no errors. ide check it out, the seller states hes cleaning out over stock items.

  • can we report fraudulent seller?

  • This is not the only problem people make sure you check the PSP memory cards as well I had a run in on ebay with a guy selling me a 16gb psp memory card for $22. And of course it was fake!!!

  • I wish I saw this a week ago. Can I get my money back from ebay? I paid with PayPal.

  • There are a few tests.

    1. Windows will not format a fake sized drive, usually

    2. Find a program called H2testw , it will write data to the drive until it is full, then it will test the data. Be prepared to wait, it takes 15 hours to test a 128gb drive

    3. If it costs 537 dollars, but it is 55 bucks on ebay, it's fake

  • Thank you very much!!!

  • hey man thanks for your video its really useful and i apreciated about your video

  • I bought one :( and after two days it stopped working. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM CHINA ON EBAY. I learned it in hard way.

  • I wish i was read it a month ago...

  • fckin chinesse thieves. the funny thing is that they call them the upgrades. Upgrades to 16GB 32GB 64GB etc.. there is a website where they actually sell as wholesale, lot of 3 to lot of 100s and i was reading these ppls post and he/she actually mentioned " 2GB actuall memory but upgraded to 32GB" and the title of the ad was "Sony 32 GB Flash drive" im glad i read all the comments and didn't buy 10 lots of these things.

  • Also, if you see the same USB drive designs from some US sellers (not too many), they are usually fake too!!!

  • I got burnt twice! once from a chinese seller (stupid of me) and once from a US seller.

  • I think knowing how to spot them before you buy them is even more important. Other than being in China, some cards are sold in sizes that don't even exist. Some you can't tell at all until you get one. It can still be tricky. Imitation boxes almost identical, but serial numbers are usually key to being a fake, as well as print quality and card design (sandisk has a small notch on the bottom; fakes do not) Also at least with kingston, they seal their boxes and they do not use the pop-open plastic

  • hi pal .

thanks for the video I got burned with one of these deals now I undestand what happened

  • I'm lucky I never got ripped off then! I've bought all my xD cards for my camera and my USB flash drive on eBay.

  • Hey man thanks for your video. I found out that the Flash Drive I bought from eBay from 'GURUELECTRONICS' was actually a fake. It had ~2gigs yet it says 16gigs. Going to buy an actual 16gig one from you now actually :)

  • shop only american (some times its the same thigns there jsut sellign them) and ive been ripped off i bought a 8 gig and tis really 4 e_e it didnt make sense till now

    e_e im pissed

  • dude I agree but they sell for $25 on Newegg sometimes. So the wholesale price is $20-22 probably for a very low quantity

  • This is very true that they do sell at newegg, wal-mart, etc. for very low prices SOMETIMES as a promotional sale of some kind. This is done to lure people to the store to hopefully buy other items while they are there. So, they are willing to break even or make a very small profit for this purpose. It's done in retail all the time. I assure you, I do not buy in small quantities, and the wholesale price of $20 for a 16GB flash drive is accurate.

  • Very true now that I think about it. That's why i left eBay. Too many fakes and scammers among the honest few such as yourself.
