  • OMG YES!

  • she was cute. She used to wear cute earings too, I remember that lol.

  • Back at that time Pledge drives were done about maby once or twice a year. Now they come on like 5 or 6 times a year.

  • that phone number's burned into my soul forever

  • As a kid, It felt like she was on the tube for ages in between Sesame Street and Mister Rogers. She's still pretty god dam annoying

I hated when they told us to go get our parents.....and we listened.

  • I never realized this as a kid back then, but now it dawned on me. Goldie was hot.

  • @leafyutube Indeed. When she would appear, my wife would say "Your babe is on TV!" She knows I had (have) a long time crush on Goldie. Oh the things I'd like to do with/to her..... Yum yum.

  • People like Goldie are needed to raise money to keep the channel going.

Now maybe CBC (Pubic Broadcasting) can try fundraisers like this and then they will realise one a handfull would pay for their crap network instead of taxpayers bailing them out all the time.

  • @CanadaguyRudey What about the fundraiser to keep Goldie going?

  • Oh man, Goldie RULES!

  • DAMN you! Some people have all the luck.

I was going to look her phone number up and give her a call but my wife asked me not to.

Now, Bob (of Sesame Street fame) *IS* in the phone book but again my wife said it's probably not a good idea just giving a friendly fan "hello" to a TV celebrity's home phone number. Well... OK.

Funny though, Sigourney Weaver's uncle Doodles Weaver (of Spike Jones fame) supposdely welcomed fan phone calls before he killed himself.

  • So I saw the article in The Buffalo News and replied to the author that she didn't mention Goldie's age. I said to her "someone mentioned the... bombshell regarding my

favourite blonde bombshell. What you left out was.... how old is she? I mean, she's one of those women who has a timeless aspect

about her, where she looks (to me) the same now as she did 25-30 years ago."

    Her response:

"I asked her, but Goldie wasn't telling...

    Paula Voell"

  • Oh. Last item on that news article

"But what I've been telling everybody is that all I need for retirement is a library card and a cheap bottle of wine.""

OKAY! Then let me get her drunk and check her out!

  • I had this page on twice and double Goldie. Haha. I was looking for the link. Allegedly in her own words: "I certainly have always been able to understand that I annoyed people. You're watching something and then there I am. It was worse before the days of the remote when you couldn't mute me or change the channel." Retired. She seems timeless. I still want her body. So judging from the article in the Buffalo News her real name is Barbara. Hm. Married in 1981. That answers that.

  • WTF? Goldie just retired? Damn! My favourite hottie. As for Collins, can you blame him for fleeing to Channel 17? All the way to the moon and he didn't even get to walk on it.

    I'd beg for money too!

  • Goldie just retired from WNED. They will miss her and so will the Niagara region.

  • She was a gem and an unbelievably good talker. Oh, sure it was annoying during Monty Python-athon (?!) but there a lot of multimillionaire Hollywood celebrities (cough~John~cough~Cleese~cough)that owe their massive fortunes to this woman.

  • I not only remember seeing Golide on TV, but I have met her in person many times. Another thing is the background behind her was painted by the stations set building team which my dad was on. Actually, my dad used to work at WNED through the mid 1980's, and I am not going to tell anyone what his name is.

  • Hahahaha, I remember seeing these pledge drives in the middle of "Sesame Street" when I was 4, and them asking the kids to "run and get their mommies and daddies so they could tell them something important".

  • That only worked once. There was that other guy, I thought his name was Michael Collins. I liked him better when he flew to the moon.

  • Do I remember her? How could I forget! LOL!

  • OMG I remember her... talk about rambler! XD

  • Lord! I forgot all about her...

Its not only interesting to see how dated this is, but how embarrassing the pledge drives were for WNED.

Wow, I wonder if she looks back on these clips, and wonder what she says...

  • How can you forget about Goldie? The sexiest begger on the tube. Unless of course you have a flat screen TV then it's not really a tube anymore. Damn these modern technologies, they keem making me have to revamp my vocabulary.

  • Thanks for posting.

  • I remember maxing out my parents credit cards just to get her off the air and get back to my program. ;)

  • HAHAH OMG blondie.

  • Hey thanks so much! Wow is she hot. Any time Plain & Fancy Cooking is on my wife calls to me "Hey your BABE is on TV."

  • Hey, don't say "hey your babe" to Goldie you pervert. I know her and she is a very nice person. Shame on you and your wife.

  • I remember her very distincly.

    LOL @ "dallers"

  • Thanks for posting this! I was trying to explain Goldie's behaviour to someone who's never seen her during a "begathon". My parents and I would always make mention of how she always sounded like she was on the verge of crying.

  • I used to get into trouble for waking my parents up after Goldie told me to after Sesame Street back in the day.

She's so sedated on the cooking shows she's on now..

  • Goldie Gardner!!! HAAAAHAHAHAHAHAA...

This reminds me of so many nights, waiting for whatever I was interested in seeing.
