  • Your love of India and Indian music shows through, Sir. It's quite an epic endeavour to sing this song and upload it. Kudos and bouquets!

  • One of my fondest memories is hearing Ravi Shankar play in Varanasi. That was Indian music at its best. Thanks for your comment.

  • I really like all you posts. Thanks a lot

  • Thank you.

  • Hi Raymondcrooke, excellent attempt by you. I am daughter of Pandit Husan Lal and I am also a singer. Pandit Amar Nath was elder brother of both Pandit Husan Lal and Bhagat Ram. Information may be corrected please.

    Priyamvada Vashishta

  • Thank you for your information. I have made the necessary change. I hope you will put some videos of your songs on YouTube.

  • Thanks Raymond, very soon you will view my videos on YouTube

  • I did some minor additions to explain the meanings of few words. And your interpretation is almost perfect.

    Have a nice day...

  • Thanks again. I have made some changes in the Information Box, based on this information.

  • Hello

    Raymond...

Firstly, thank you very much for the translation of the lyrics. That being said, the song is enjoyable as presented here...for its melody and your singing. It's as if the song is universal because the words seem more like a part of the music...like another instrument added to the strumming. Many thanks for introducing something that is very new to me.

    Peace,

    Stewball

  • Thanks Stewball.

I've always had an interest in Indian music, since I first heard The Weavers sing Raghupati. Many years ago my Indian friends arranged for a sitar to be shipped from India for me, though I never really learned to play it. I have also had the pleasure of hearing Ravi Shankar perform in Varanasi - a memorable experience.

  • I ♥ you!

  • Do you know the language?

    Songs like you do!!

    The playing style upright??

  • No, Roy, I don't know much Hindi, though I have had a number of Indian friends, so I've heard it spoken a lot.

The upright style is an attempt to look more like an Indian musician. It's how I had to sit when I was trying to learn the sitar.

  • That's absolutely wonderful. Thank you Raymond

  • Thanks, Marco. Something a bit different.

  • Awesome bud!

  • Thanks, Shawn.

  • Wonderful vocals... (no I don't understand Hindi).

  • Thanks, Lew. It would be better with sitar accompaniment, but I no longer have my sitar.

  • do you have any idea where I could find a translation ? Gandhi - now there is a man who knew how you make change and win a 'war'.

  • I used to have one, from the same friend who wrote out the lyrics for me. All I remember now is that "Suno Suno" means "Listen, listen!" If I can find one, I'll post it in the information box.

  • I have posted a tentative translation in the information box, adapted from a line by line translation kindly provided by "deepakcoolz".

  • thank you, very interesting song !
