Many years ago my Indian friends arranged for a sitar to be shipped from India for me, though I never really learned to play it. I have also had the pleasure of hearing Ravi Shankar perform in Varanasi - a memorable experience.

No, Roy, I don't know much Hindi, though I have had a number of Indian friends, so I've heard it spoken a lot.

The upright style is an attempt to look more like an Indian musician. It's how I had to sit when I was trying to learn the sitar.
