Hi I'm 14 and live in the southwest of ireland in Tralee.5 years ago,the council said they were in fact going to buil a skatepark. Now? Still not even plans drawn up.I've contacted several local politicians who work with youth groups,councils etc. There's probably only about 20 skaters in the area but people will obviously start skatin or bmx'ing when one is built. I was just wondering if anyone has been through the same thing and wondering what I can do that would be effective,

The skatepark is pretty good. But it should keep the same design maybe make it bigger and put in a bowl, AND MAKE IT CONCRETE!

i llove the hastings skate park, even with all the dodgy bits. its the best park near me but a concrete park would be awesome

I would like to see something done with that derialict building on the seafront - what used to be the hastings ice skating rink?

he obviously doesnt go there often the cage is normally packed with footballers or bballers more then the skatepark i say knock dwn the skatepark n make more footy cages

There are 5 all weather sports cages in the town. Which is quite ironic as the one in white gardens is virtually a ghost town through the winter months, and only seem to attracts attention when the sun is shinning and the days are long, maybe they should be called fair weather cages. The skate park is used every day of the year, only rain stops skating/riding as it's to dangerous. The adjacent tennis courts only really seem to attract decent use during Wimbledon, unlike the skatepark.

The town also has large amount of full size pitches and even indoor 5 a side facilities. I love football and tennis but there is a massive demand for a new skatepark, and literally hundreds of people young and old are being denied a safe modern facility when other sports are over catered for. Nice one Chaz for for seeing the bigger picture of making this town great for everybody.

i do agree with all of this as a user of this skatepark, but what you say about the all weather pitch is bull. On a sunny day its packed with ballers

Stuff like 0:51 pisses me off..........seriously, there are loads of sports facilities for a relatively small user base (whatever, I'm tired) and then when it comes to many skaters they won't do shit. Fuck them

no disrespect but you have a skatepark, why are you complaining? where I'm from we never had one and now where I moved we have a grind box that the angle iron fell off and the shadiest quarter in the world and I couldn't be happier. Good luck though I'm not rooting against you or anything, just skateboarding is about skating, not about bitching about ramps
