  • Ahh nice too see our little arrogant hero again....at least once a month...he got a kind of hero status here in our house..:)

  • bravo tout plein !

Et surtout grand merci de m'avoir donné "d'entendre " cette fanfare de cette façon !

je crois qu'un certain musicien aurait pu dire de vous auqssi : "chapeau bas, Messieurs : un génie !"

  • Get to Juilliard and study with Jacobs!!!!!!!

  • A real goodie boy, indeed that is well hold together and well played....but my God....when he steps down ,he beats all actors in being a spoiled arrogant little bastard..:),in a good way of course...:O.!!!

  • Very good playing and I like this piece. Not that keen on that organ either, though it may have sounded better on Youtube in stereo.

  • I think I would've tried it with the "English Cathedral" registration. I know that was an Allen Quantum organ, and their are different "libraries" of stops. English Cathedral is one of them.

    Great timing and playing :)

  • Yeah! This is how it should be done. Listening to you playing this piece makes the small hairs on my arms stand on end, and I feel almost like crying. Bravo!

  • Well done!

  • Good job man.

  • Biggs has been dead long enough that this boy could be his reincarnation. The boy is certainly a phenomenal organist already!

  • @davewvu1 Or VIRGIL *gasp*

  • Dear God it's my Friend Rees.

  • Parabéns pela execução da peça, muito lindo.

  • Olá.... nunca assisti um vídeo tão lindo como este, ainda mais executado por um garoto.... parabéns pela bela execução.

  • nice

  • Just excellent.

  • You have a promising future ahead of you. You are so young, yet you play the organ with commanding approach. Time will allow you to polish your skills even more. Stick with it. I enjoyed hearing you play.

  • Excellent playing on this piece. A lot of people think that because the title is "Fanfare" that it should be played as a toccata - au contraire. And the tempo is determined, as the French might say, by "environment". BTW - bruises on the legs and knees are common - especially on Allen organs and others that have those drawers installed underneath the stop cheeks. Great playing!

  • I don't know about American Pipe Organs. I think this little guy has cracked it as far as tempo goes. When you listen to the true Baroque Organs they do not have that harsh intrusive sound. If you travelled any faster with this it would sound very muddy. It's good. Don't critisize team.

  • It sounds very legato, but there are this little dots...

  • JSBgermany: And they are added to compensate the legato when playing on an pneumatic organ and should therefore be interpreted with care.

For example, on bigger organs, I tend to play less staccatto, otherwise it will sound quite strange.

  • I thinkg the tempo is appropriate for the room and for the organ. Faster would sound muddy on that organ. Nicely done!!

  • Nicely done, kid, bravo! I'm sure you can play it from memory now, then I would suggest a tempo a bit more lively, and perhaps more contrast between the sections. Use the reed stops if they're worthy and in tune. Encore bravo et continuez!

  • Only thing wrong is THAT ORGAN!

  • I did not like the organ at all! The other thing was, after practicing there for the first time was that I had bruises on my leg, because I would always bump it getting on and off the bench! haha

  • @octavebasse8 Nicely played! I've had the same problem with EVERY Allen I've ever played. I whack my knee on either the controller drawer on the left side, or the Expander II or Vista on the right side...that and the pistons are constantly binding up...

  • that was awesome...

  • Very good job!

  • I would play it a bit faster, but I don't know such organs... is it a church or a concert hall?

  • Absolutely brilliant, what a great talent!

  • hahaha what an amazing little organist, plays it at a great speed too

  • ¡¡¡Amanzing kid organist!!!...

  • this kid is good, Who is he? and are their more videos of him playing?? I Think Dian Bish better look out!

  • She better watch out, when I start wearing gaint dresses.

  • Dont forget the gold shoes!!!

  • That would be a sight... just to be there to see you in a giant dress and gold organ shoes! ;-) lol

  • Wouldnt it just! :)

  • Well, you going to have to wait for hell to freeze over.

    haha

  • @octavebasse8

You need not look farther than "arty bosco", or Arthur Nobile jr.!!! He does that already ;)

  • Beautiful! Congratulations!

  • Great! I'm sure you have the chance to play it on a Cavaillé-Coll one day!

  • Don't you worry about us getting tired of these great pieces. Talent and quality never go out of style and is never tiring!!

  • Hats off to you young man. You have great talent.. I started young also and now retired. Keep up the work. Bill

  • I just LOVE how you're progressing in your play octavebasse8 !!! You are SUCH a DELIGHT to listen to and see -- bishfan does have a good posting of this Fanfare with Diane Bish playing (think it's posted by sk8er1979) -- so check it out, as if you haven't already - HA!

Keep up the MOST EXCELLENT dedication to the organ my young friend ..

    Jeff

  • There are several postings for this piece on You Tube, but yours is the best both in energy and timing.

  • No offence intended but I am perplexed why his hair orange coloured, only in this one video.

Temporary diet carrots, oranges ? Any ideas ?

    French :- 'Poil de Carrotte'.

  • Probably wrong white balance setting on camera.

  • Comment removed

  • As I read all the smart comments about speed and timing, they seem to forget how the piece is written. If you can achieve playing all the notes on the page and it sounds like it was meant to be then you have achieved what the composer wrote - not how the critics THINK it should sound. Hey - your efforts are delightful. I wish I could do what you have mastered. Great technique and dedication - you will go far.

  • Great job. Good luck to you.

  • Iam a professional organist in France, and I must say that the tempo is perfectly played and the stops have very wisely been used. If you listen to this fanfare by Herbert .H. Hoffman(Munich Musikil), the greatest organist in the world , you would see that this renderring matches his excatly! excellently played!

  • Great! Enjoyed it! And for some reason I haven't heard it before today, so thank you very much..Bravo!

  • GREAT performance - Lance ♫ ♪ ♫

  • Octavebasse8,

On behalf of the American Guild of Organists, I tip my hat at you, this was played very beautifully and professionally.

Keep up the good work and I encourage you to continue your studies.

You have an astonishing gift and talent. Two thumbs up!

  • good play! but to slow!

  • Well, we must keep in mind, it is titled "Fanfare" not "Toccata".

    Thanks for viewing and commenting.

  • I sampled other organists. Many did play this faster, and others at about this speed. It's interesting that a young organist who played it about this speed was told that she should play it slower.

Have you heard Albert Schweitzer play? He plays Bach at a slow speed, allowing you to appreciate the intricate parts of the music much better than when played by organists who seem to be in a race!.

I enjoyed this piece, and your tempo.

  • why is legato? on the score is write "staccato"

  • Thanks. I may tire of this piece, but, you certainly do a wonderful presentation here.

  • You are amazing!!! I am already A fan! Your technique is very good. Who do you study with?

    Thanks!!!

  • Thank you for your kind comments!

  • Right notes. Absolutely solid time. Very musical phrasing. Clarity on inner voices. Nice registrations. This is coming from someone who has been playing for 50 years. Your playing is worth listening to over and over. Some of the "stars" could learn from listening to the clarity of your playing.

  • Well, in my opinion, the louder digital organs get, the worse they sound. So, I was very careful when registering.

  • ..but you forgot to add the 32' Contra Bombarde on the final chord.....

    :D

  • Keep in mind, most of this instrument is digital.

  • .....and what is the rest of it?

  • cheap pipes

  • "cheep.....cheep...cheep"

    :D

  • Hey - I like this piece more & more each time you play it! Wonderful....thanks!!!

  • Marvelous!! I can tell it's an Allen by the console, but the sound is very authentic. It brings joy to see young men stepping up to the challenge of the king of instruments.

  • Hi, my name is Jim. Watching your videos takes me back to my days when I was your age.

My dad was a Methodist minister in Vermont at the time. One Saturday afternoon while I was home alone, there was a knock on the door. I answered the door and the Man said, "Hello, I am E. Power Biggs". Of course I knew who E. Power Biggs was. He asked if he could enter the church and record the old tracker organ that he had heard about. It was the oldest tracker organ in the state, and still is to this day.

  • Flawless performance!

  • How do you like the digital organ?

  • i hate those things

  • Awsome! Im using the same book in study with my organ teacher. I havent gotten that far into it yet LOL Keep posting, your playing is awsome!
