Resident evil, was an AMAZING game, 4 was the best, hands down, 2 and zero were gr8, but 5 was ok, i mean it wasnt a bad game, i loved it, it was rlly good, nice graphics, and rlly good bonus DLCS.. but still, it kind of killed the RE series..i love the thrill, and scares and the sound of "HOLY SHIT!" when my friends got startled, now u have a bitch to ruin it...im goin back to the clasics -_-

@RustySporks the graphics put me off. They looked so unpolished even compared to the original. The world map was huge, but the graphics were just lazy. Mismatching, square tree tiles dotted the map, and the entire map was static. It looked like a jpg that had been put together in like 10 minutes in Paint.

Good video though i can tell your a newish to resident evil. RE always had set inventories, no merchant and all that. It doesn't need it. RE4 and RE5 were good but the best is revelations... or RE3. Resident Evil 5 was a blast to play but it wasn't scary and had no puzzles whatsoever. Resident Evil 4 had fear and puzzles (in less quantity than 1, 2 and 3 but the game was more about tactics rather than SHOOT SHOOT SHOOT than RE5).
With the exception of 1 and 4, all your arguments felt incomplete. "um, uh, I can't explain. Just look" is not a valid argument, especially for Super Mario bros 2.
@djaevlenselv an improvement? in what way? less deep gameplay, less balance, worse maps, worse single player. the only thing going for it is more characters, but that's a quality over quantity argument.
@HeirToBlackblade the formula wasn't perfect. one of the things that doesnt age well at all is having to constantly go back to the inventory for other weapons. RE5 did a good job of fixing this by giving you 4 quick select buttons. that and you could reload through the inventory.
I have to disagree with that last part. While the 3D MegaManX games are crappy, MegaMan Legends and its sequel are great and well loved games even though they deviate a lot from the MegaMan formula.
Ok, besides the fact it wasn't scary and there was no pause. What was wrong with RE5? I kind of enjoyed it. But then again, it's my opinion, but like everyone says, there's no bad opinion.

RE5 by itself was an action game with very restrictive controls, limited inventory space, and were forced to play CoOp, which means having to deal with an AI who healed you/herself is you weren't at completely full health, used ammo like it was nothing, and constantly put herself in bad positions. Those were its biggest problems, if you don't consider it's called Resident Evil.

lemme explain something about Prince of Persia , the game stands by itself, its not part of the story line. all the other games (sands of time, warrior within ,two thrones and forgotten sands) synchronized the timeline follows up. this prince of persia doesnt even have a subtitle. but the gameplay and story are great i love the three different attacks forms i do miss the thinking though, the tough puzzles and figure out how to beat bosses etc. otherwise a great game imo.
Alright guys, the buck stops here. I define Sequel as a game that released directly after another game in the same franchise, in a certain area of the world. So no more crying!
Also, the worst sequel of all time for me would be Actraiser2. The first game was a hybrid sim/action game that is almost flawless except for the stiff controls. The second Actraiser is horrible. It has awkward controls, unbalanced difficulty, and a horrible learning curve. Even on its own, Actraiser2 can't be called a good game. When compared to the first, it is a pure travesty.
Simon's Quest I believe to be one of the games I love that everyone hates, there's really only around 3 sticking points, the silver knife, under the lake, and the tornado which people should really figure out after doing the lake bit
I think every megaman game (besides the very first) is the worst sequels of all time. Not because of gameplay or soundtrack, but because they prove that developers don't have to fucking care. Seriously, they made 3 games in one year using the same formula and abilities over and over again, and fanboys just ate it up. I'll tell you what the worst sequels of all time were, which one couldn't be on this list because it wasn't out yet. Metroid: Other M, and Star Wars: The Old Republic, and I'm gonna go out and say that Super Metroid and KOTOR 2 are my two favorite games of all time.
I actually liked Budokai Tenkaichi. I found the Tenkaichi series better than the first 3 Budokai games. The only one of the first three Budokai games that actually did it right was the first one. Budokai 2 had that god awful board game, which ruined it for me, and Budokai 3 had still pictures instead of cutscenes or animations of characters talking. How can it be that the first game can have full motion cutscenes, but the next 2 can't handle it? Makes no sense.
I laugh at all those Resident Evil series defenders, to me the series as a whole is bad, Clunky Controls just kills the fun in the games, i mean what kind of challenge is that when you can't play the game the way you really want (those stupid standing still and shooting controls, by the time they released RE4 i thought they would fix the issue but nooooo only the perspective...)
i think the worst sequal was dino crisis 3. DC1: Scary as crap, hard as crap, fun as crap. It was resident evil but instead of zombies, dinosaurs. And an awesome story.
DC2: Epic, fast pased never ending action, same resident evil gameplay. And continues the awesome story.

I loved all of the Megaman X games (X4 being my favorite) except for 6 and well 7 I don't even acknowledge as a real Megaman game. X8 wasn't great either but it still beat X6, even though the X series should've ended after X5 to make way for the Zero series.

SMB2 was a good game, but it was quite different to SMB1 and SMB3. Resident Evil 4 and 5 were both amazing, but both had some faults. In Resident Evil 4 Ashley was really annoying and you couldn't replay chapters without going through the whole game again. Resident Evil 5 was very short compared to Resident Evil 4. Resident Evil 5 had a slightly less annoying ally ie. she can shoot and dies less and you could have one of your friends play as her. In Resident Evil 5 you can replay chapters.
(sigh) We all know RE5 is not a survival horror anymore, but RE was never meant to be, remember it is originally called Biohazard, and it was supposed to be an action game, so, as an action game it is really good.

@SlaineTheLocalRapist True, remember the game is Japanese originally, but it's funny, the survival horror genre was defined by RE1 (it began with Alone in the dark, some say even older 8 bit games) but it wasn't a priority, I don't have the reference right now but it was said by the original creator (I believe Shinji Mikami). What you say about RE4 is true some love it, some hate it, but I've found old school RE fans seem to love it, let's just say it's different.
At least you kept Zelda 2 off the list. But for what you complain about Mario 2 being to the Mario franchise, regardless of whether or not it was a swap, Zelda 2 is the same to the Zelda franchise. It's different. But different need not make a bad game when done properly. And for both, both sequels were fun, enjoyable and entertaining.

I think SMB2 only makes these kinds of lists for the sole reason that it was learned to us that it wasn't the true SMB2, rather than the gameplay mechanics or storyline.

@SwollenEize CoD4 was a good game. MW2... was not. Shallow campaign, getting ridiculous (by the standards of the cod series) very quickly. Focus on multiplayer which just wasn't as fun as cod 4's (especially on computer, where cod4 had up to 26-a-side deathmatches. MW2 had a max of 16 people. A massive downgrade) killed MW2 for me.
Resident Evil 5 would have been a good non-Resident Evil game. I played the latest Bionic Commando and aside from the guns being so... pathetic, the concept of the game was great to me. (At least the explosions had some kick.) Prince of Persia Prodigy would have been great if there was a limit to how many times you could be saved like in the previous games, just with no Dagger of Time. Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 and Proving Grounds were the only good TH games. Megaman Zero ftw. Good list.
Mario brothers 2? To each their own I guess, but I gotta say that it really is a fun game. Not like the other mario games, but then why does that go against it? strictly formula churning out the same game each time isn't a good thing. But mario bros 3 WAS still awesome.
Simon's quest? I get why a lot of people hate simon's quest (yeah, it can get confusing and the text is horrific) but it's still a fun game to play when you're playing instead of reading about horrible nights.

Resident Evil 5 was a disappointing sequel. On it's own, it's alright. But they sure did fuck up the perfect formula after the homerun hit in RE4

@HeirToBlackblade the formula wasn't perfect. one of the things that doesnt age well at all is having to constantly go back to the inventory for other weapons. RE5 did a good job of fixing this by giving you 4 quick select buttons. that and you could reload through the inventory.

Ok, besides the fact it wasn't scary and there was no pause. What was wrong with RE5? I kind of enjoyed it. But then again, it's my opinion, but like everyone says, there's no bad opinion.

RE5 by itself was an action game with very restrictive controls, limited inventory space, and were forced to play CoOp, which means having to deal with an AI who healed you/herself is you weren't at completely full health, used ammo like it was nothing, and constantly put herself in bad positions. Those were its biggest problems, if you don't consider it's called Resident Evil.

Tbh, the multiplayer gameplay of tenkaichi was actually pretty good. I dont care about the storyline on 1v1 fighting games, i just wanna beat the shit outta my friends and have fun with it ;D

lemme explain something about Prince of Persia , the game stands by itself, its not part of the story line. all the other games (sands of time, warrior within ,two thrones and forgotten sands) synchronized the timeline follows up. this prince of persia doesnt even have a subtitle. but the gameplay and story are great i love the three different attacks forms i do miss the thinking though, the tough puzzles and figure out how to beat bosses etc. otherwise a great game imo.

MegamanX8 was actually a pretty good game.
Also, the worst sequel of all time for me would be Actraiser2. The first game was a hybrid sim/action game that is almost flawless except for the stiff controls. The second Actraiser is horrible. It has awkward controls, unbalanced difficulty, and a horrible learning curve. Even on its own, Actraiser2 can't be called a good game. When compared to the first, it is a pure travesty.

I think every megaman game (besides the very first) is the worst sequels of all time. Not because of gameplay or soundtrack, but because they prove that developers don't have to fucking care. Seriously, they made 3 games in one year using the same formula and abilities over and over again, and fanboys just ate it up. Not calling you a fanboy, I'm just saying they ate it up just because it was megaman. No innovation, no stretch of any imagination of any kind. Just recycled stuff.

I agree with your view on MegaMan X7. That game made me mad. The game play was so annoying. Flame hyenard wouldn't shut up. "Burn and die! Burn and die! Burn..Burn..Burn..Burn and...Burn and die!"
I have to disagree with the Mario 2 bit though. Even though its not a true Mario game I found it very enjoyable.

I actually liked Budokai Tenkaichi. I found the Tenkaichi series better than the first 3 Budokai games. The only one of the first three Budokai games that actually did it right was the first one. Budokai 2 had that god awful board game, which ruined it for me, and Budokai 3 had still pictures instead of cutscenes or animations of characters talking. How can it be that the first game can have full motion cutscenes, but the next 2 can't handle it? Makes no sense.

i think the worst sequal was dino crisis 3. DC1: Scary as crap, hard as crap, fun as crap. It was resident evil but instead of zombies, dinosaurs. And an awesome story.
DC2: Epic, fast pased never ending action, same resident evil gameplay. And continues the awesome story.
DC3: Mutated Dinosaurs IN SPACE!!!!.......... that just killed it for me. The game wasnt bad, but the theme was retarded, the camara sucked and it had nothing to do with the original 2 exept 3rd energy

I loved all of the Megaman X games (X4 being my favorite) except for 6 and well 7 I don't even acknowledge as a real Megaman game. X8 wasn't great either but it still beat X6, even though the X series should've ended after X5 to make way for the Zero series.

It was a shitty zombie shoot-em up rather than a survival horror. It's fine if you like it, I still have it, but I still play RE4, and I don't play the 5th one.

SMB2 was a good game, but it was quite different to SMB1 and SMB3. Resident Evil 4 and 5 were both amazing, but both had some faults. In Resident Evil 4 Ashley was really annoying and you couldn't replay chapters without going through the whole game again. Resident Evil 5 was very short compared to Resident Evil 4. Resident Evil 5 had a slightly less annoying ally ie. she can shoot and dies less and you could have one of your friends play as her. In Resident Evil 5 you can replay chapters.

@SlaineTheLocalRapist True, remember the game is Japanese originally, but it's funny, the survival horror genre was defined by RE1 (it began with Alone in the dark, some say even older 8 bit games) but it wasn't a priority, I don't have the reference right now but it was said by the original creator (I believe Shinji Mikami). What you say about RE4 is true some love it, some hate it, but I've found old school RE fans seem to love it, let's just say it's different.

It's different. But different need not make a bad game when done properly. And for both, both sequels were fun, enjoyable and entertaining.

@blank21121 Not really. It's not like they took Mario and put him in something entirely different, say Gauntlet for example. Would Super Mario Bros 2 (US) be considered as "bad" if it was this way, yet not a palette swap?
I think SMB2 only makes these kinds of lists for the sole reason that it was learned to us that it wasn't the true SMB2, rather than the gameplay mechanics or storyline.

@SwollenEize CoD4 was a good game. MW2... was not. Shallow campaign, getting ridiculous (by the standards of the cod series) very quickly. Focus on multiplayer which just wasn't as fun as cod 4's (especially on computer, where cod4 had up to 26-a-side deathmatches. MW2 had a max of 16 people. A massive downgrade) killed MW2 for me.

Resident Evil 5 would have been a good non-Resident Evil game. I played the latest Bionic Commando and aside from the guns being so... pathetic, the concept of the game was great to me. (At least the explosions had some kick.) Prince of Persia Prodigy would have been great if there was a limit to how many times you could be saved like in the previous games, just with no Dagger of Time. Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 and Proving Grounds were the only good TH games. Megaman Zero ftw. Good list.

Mario brothers 2? To each their own I guess, but I gotta say that it really is a fun game. Not like the other mario games, but then why does that go against it? strictly formula churning out the same game each time isn't a good thing. But mario bros 3 WAS still awesome.
Simon's quest? I get why a lot of people hate simon's quest (yeah, it can get confusing and the text is horrific) but it's still a fun game to play when you're playing instead of reading about horrible nights.
