I was on this Supercell as well. I was near Fredonia, KS on that day, and got some amazing shots of the Supercell. The scud clouds on this one was flat out amazing. I got pretty close to the rising scud, and my eyes were fix on the motion of the clouds. I will never forget that day.
I know many chase teams were on this particular storm. Professional Storm Chasers Michael Laca, and Jim Leonard among others, and Tornado Research Teams. Also news stations sent out their people to document the storm. This was the start of major tornadic activity to come in the following weeks in the plains.
Very cool Michael!!! That is so close to what I saw on that day. That was a very impressive Supercell for one that really did not produce very many Tornadoes. I only heard of one brief touchdown close to Fredonia, KS on that day. I was very close to that scud cloud you guys were looking at. The one near sunset was very appealing when it look like it was attaching itself to the meso itself.
I was actually chasing this storm and not knowing it, because I headed towards Fredonia, KS after dark to get gas since I was close to there. When I got there lightning struck, and took out the electricity to the city for awhile, and after leaving the gas station I had to take cover under a sonic drive thru to protect my vehicle from the large hail.
That was a awesome day! I seen so many tornado research teams and just about every type of storm chaser on that day. Very creepy when I was literally underneath the entire mass of weak rotation, and that scud cloud in front of me. If you want I could upload my video of that day.
