This flick was a brilliant example of ironic humor used to maximum effect. It pays homage to 'The Evil Dead' and 'Deliverance' only it turns all stereotypes upside-down. Sam Raimi sort of did that in 'The Evil Dead' by making the alpha male character (Scott) a jerkass while making the Shaggy type comical sidekick character the sole survivor.

Also saying the film was bad because the college kids where 2 dimensional is kinda missing the point that this is a satire of 'killer hillbilly' films. The cast are the typical crew of slasher fodder along with the 'pure girl love interest' and 'heroic group leader armed with genre savvy' roles inverted. Saying the film fails because it uses these tropes would be like saying 'Scream' failed because it had a knife wielding crazy killing people!

There are maybe 10 movies I will watch more then once. Tucker and Dale vs. Evil is one of those movies. It is not stupid slapstick satire comedy. It isn't crude humor. It plays on regional stereotypes that some people still believe are true. Tucker and Dale vs Evil is a very underrated film. If you have Netflix, do yourself a favor and give this movie a chance. If you don't like it, I'll be shocked but at least you gave it a chance.
