I miss it. Ive only been there twice even though I lived in Newyork for 2 years. When I saw the 2nd plane hit I remember being so shocked and I said to my friends that There is no way the fire department can fight this. @StreetSlyr Funny that you say that. I'm an electrician in Chicago and we had to run some stuff to the roof of the Sears Tower and worked up there for about 2 weeks. Everyday we went to work I had a parachute on my cart that I borrowed from a friend. Security didn't want to let me take it uo becuase they thought I was going to freebase, but I just explained it was for safety reasons and fought a little and got my way. I was way to paranoid in the months after to not bring one with me.
I always have said the same. Those buildings were tall enough for base jumpers and their parachutes, so it would have been possible. Maybe it should be mandatory for ALL office workers in tall buildings to have their own parachute and drills monthly on practice and usage? Maybe also have a heavy duty filter mask in their desk drawer. Fires are the main problem in high rises.
I agree with you, those who work in high rise buildings might need a heavy duty mask in case of the fire so workers doesn't inhale toxic gases due to the burning insulation and plastics. Fire aren't the main cause of their death and I think that they inhale the toxic smoke that makes them perished very quickly, a drill on how to use parachute also may needed in case of emergency stairs were destroyed and those parachute might save thousands of lives.

@StreetSlyr Funny that you say that. I'm an electrician in Chicago and we had to run some stuff to the roof of the Sears Tower and worked up there for about 2 weeks. Everyday we went to work I had a parachute on my cart that I borrowed from a friend. Security didn't want to let me take it uo becuase they thought I was going to freebase, but I just explained it was for safety reasons and fought a little and got my way. I was way to paranoid in the months after to not bring one with me.

I always have said the same. Those buildings were tall enough for base jumpers and their parachutes, so it would have been possible. Maybe it should be mandatory for ALL office workers in tall buildings to have their own parachute and drills monthly on practice and usage? Maybe also have a heavy duty filter mask in their desk drawer. Fires are the main problem in high rises.

I agree with you, those who work in high rise buildings might need a heavy duty mask in case of the fire so workers doesn't inhale toxic gases due to the burning insulation and plastics. Fire aren't the main cause of their death and I think that they inhale the toxic smoke that makes them perished very quickly, a drill on how to use parachute also may needed in case of emergency stairs were destroyed and those parachute might save thousands of lives.
