you can just remove the circuit board from the old drive and screw it on to the new drive, you have to cut the wires (yellow, white, red, black) and rewire them to the new drive and insert all strips into the ports and that's it. you need the same model as the old drive for this to work.

@dayananDKZ if you have flashed you xbox 360 then you need to do the update on some websites it says not to do system updates due to you might get banned others say go onto microsoft website and download the update onto a usb there are some tutorials i think on how to do that in other words dont update when connected to live update via usb then look on xbins or summat to see if there is a update

I have found a bunch of tutorials and vids on flashing a new Lite-on for a swap, but no straight answers on whether or not I can simply solder the wires for a swapped drive. I suspect this won't work, but if the replacement drive is an identical model, why not? Any help would be appreciated.

@ILoveMormonPussy iXtreme v1.51 is the firmware not a program, u use JungleFlasher to delete the stock firmware and install the hacked firmware on your Xbox 360 drive. But dont use iXtreme v1.51 for a Lite-on drive. Use iXtreme LTv1.1, u can download it from iXtreme.net. Hope this helped.

@guitarherogod008 If you have on-board sata connection u can connect the drive to a sata port. U can also power the drive with your Xbox 360. But you might have a chance that Jungleflasher wont detect the drive. In that case u need a PCI SATA Card w/ VIA VT6421A Chipset. And skipping the probe part is no option. U can use a paperclip to connect R707 with the soldering blob left from SL 2- instead of using a CK3 Probe. But after all, using the CK3 tools still is the smartest thing to do.

The black cable connects to the CK3 Probe device. The CK3 Probe is a separate purchased item that allows you to extract the DVD drive key without soldering/cutting traces on certain points of the DVD drive motherboard. It's only for the first 74850C Lite-on Drives. The DVD drive and 360 motherboard share a key much like a serial number to identify that unit. If you dont extract the key and put it into the firmware of the DVD drive the motherboard will reject the flashed drive.

I say this is a much safer way, it cost around $45-$50 with shipping included depending on where you live. They can ship pretty much anywhere.

hey i already have a flashed lite on drive i was told by the guy who did it that it was 1.6 firmware well i can play wave 3 games but not wave 4 and even with an activation disk it won't load so obviously this guy has flashed with 1.51 so i got hold of my old mans xbox opened it to find a samsung drive had a go at flashing it with 1.61 worked 1st time with jungleflasher easily done now i didn't use a probe or the ck3 kit i used my xbox to power the drive and a sata cable to flash it

Ok, I just received my CK3 kit and was able to successfully flash my lite on drive using this tutorial. As for the required wires, the kit comes with everything except the "black cord" which is the power source. I actually used an extra adapter from my computer power supply and it worked fine. Using this tutorial, I ran into about 3-4 different problems along the way, but patience and good google searches helped me flash my drive in about 2-3 hours after i got the kit in the mail. Thanks!

Actually, all you need is a power source from your computer power supply and a USB source as well. Also, make sure you have some sort of sata setup. It's very simple and straight forward after your familiar with the device.
