I literally LOL'd like five times at this video...starting when the C.O. in the Caddy turned out to be on a moped! I never literally laugh at videos. And when the guy tying the switches launches himself. And of course, the old clown car routine! I think the music is fine. I'm sure there are other songs that would work as well, but I think this one works just great. Thanks for a great laugh; I've added it to my favorites.
Love the music, it accentuates the fun and funny attitude that was obviously the intent of the film's creators.
Hilariously LOL funny at the start and throughout but some fine flying from @5:30 on and it's fun seeing that tail come off @4:10. Thanks for posting! ♥
what a great video ! The F-86 was my Dads first "big" job at North American (He designed the wings-original N.A. wanted delta wings). They liked his work so much that he did the F-100's airframe next.
Funny vid....My father flew in the Korean war starting with the F-80C then getting the F-84E Thunderjet...Hew flew a full 100 missions into the north for the 9th FBS under the 49th FBG...
I thoroughly enjoyed your video of the F86. I used to watch them fly over Fargo North Dakota as a kid when I visited my grandparents.. The Air Guard flew quite a variety of aircraft over the years there...and got to see some of their aircraft up close up through my days attending college and AFROTC there, too. Love your music background too...one of my favorite ditties..:-) PPhillips
I got a question here. I'm pretty sure some F-86F's had an enlarged wing with no slats; some had slats -- were they fitted with an enlarged wing the same size as the one without slats? Or were they fitted with an F-86E's wing with modified slats, or a wing somewhere in between between the F-86E and F-86F (the non slatted model) with modified slats?
Yes the F-86F is the most confusing model for me to remember...
I have vid of a Navy Fighter Sqn VFA -122 {yet fighter as they lob bombed nukes} flying the terryfing F-7 Vought Cutlass, they did one of these when Lemore Navy Base was a a couple of shacks in the desert, I gotta find a way of getting it on
I give copies of all my rare video footage to the Planes of Fame Air Museum here in the LA area. Planes of Fame is the oldest and largest privately owned air museum in America. That way these rare videos can be preserved in at least one museum as a collection.
wow. As a former uscg aviator, I have to wonder how they got away with that. I mean it was so much work, it must have taken days! I wish we could know the guys who created it.
Watch my video called "The Geiger Tigers" and read the story. Sometimes back then it even became a command supported effort. The Geiger Tigers movie, "Oh How They Flew" was a direct response to "The F-86's are here".
Thats a possibility, but I dont know if that unit had seen or heard of Launch Um. I have launch um on my page and on my site too. I also have Oh How They Flew, which is another squadron video about the F-86. That one was difinetly made as a response to the F-86's are here. According to my dad who helped make Oh How They flew. Enjoy all three classic videos on my youtube page or my sote.
Pakistan Air Force had 150 of these in the fleet. F86 Sabres along with F104 Starfighters ensured that we maintained air superiority over the indians in 1965 and 1971 ---

wonderful aircraft.....we have many on display throughout the cities -- and also at Pakistan Air Force Museum in Karachi
@TJDOZIER1 Chuch Yeager broke the sound barrier in a the Bell X-1 on Oct 14, 1947. His official record never reveals if he ever flew the Lockheed SR-71
@TJDOZIER1 No big deal, Yeager flew an SR-71 as a VIP, 1983. Saw your/this film in UPT (pilot training) 1975 during one of our academic classes. Yeager lives/lived near Beale AFB where the SR-71 flew. He could be seen around the area, getting gas, waiting for ride to Edwards (at Base Ops for hop in a jet) to speak, signing books for the Flight Doc for people when he came around, etc. Named a road to the base after him. Thanks for posting the film.
@aa2398a Hahaha ... typical of Ur countrymen to mix up, dice up and trump up unfounded claims ... Chuck Yeager in an SR-71 .... Pakistani superiority over Indians .... HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAH !!
Yes, i mislabelled his aircraft....that was ages back. Get over it!
As for Pakistani air superiority over indians --- check any neutral source. We disabled your Amritsar radar (code name Fishoil) in both wars. We destroyed your Kalaikunda & Pattankot air strips, destroyed 9 of your gnats and 5 brand new indian Migs (on the ground). We averted your attempted raid of Lahore (thanks much in part to Army air defence, artillery and armoured divisions)
sure....i'll also enjoy the video of Sajjad Haider and Squadron 9, right after they carried out the Pattankot Raid in india. Newly inducted indian Migs and Hunters turned to fireworks after a few unguided rockets and guns met their target =) PAF is proud to have used F-86 Sabre aircrafts. There is one on display not far from my residence
