Was in Constantine in 1973 - a remarkable place which had a curfew at 20.30 hours until 06.00 hours. People very friendly even in the very poor parts of the city where poverty prevailed. Algeria is a beautiful country but sadly thanks to Islamic extremists you now visit at your own risk - it is not recommended for Westerners.

I completed my military service in Constantine in early 90's. I hang out in la guingette, the upper and lower part of Sidi Mabrouk , bab el qantra, la casbah, Souq el Asser, souiqa, rue de france, la breche, st jean , el koudiat, foubourg, le bardo, belle vue, les arcades, les ponts, djnan ezitoun, ain el bey, le CSC ..etc Too bad at that time, safety did not allow me to adventure in some places; but I left with millions of beautiful memories.
