We used to have a regular weekend programme that had classical & non-classical at the end or sometimes a full prog devoted to a single artist(s).
Through the 90s, others appeared on several commercial channels as well as the BBC. I have very many recordings from these too & have uploaded quite a lot here. Check my folder.
Thanks indeed for uploading it - a real gem. Though i've been lucky to have been taught this piece by Chitraji, i've never actually seen her perform it till now. Now i know what it is supposed to look like BTW the music is pre-recorded.
I'm amazed 80s Brit TV showed Bharathanatyam... awesome!

Thanks for the post. Pity the video quality is so poor. Does no justice to this great danseuse.
Would have been nice to have included some shots of the accompanying musicians at some points too.

I took this from a video tape I recorded about 25 years ago. I presume the music was prerecorded & that's why there's no musicians featured.
