  • fly as hell

  • This is awesome

  • This is what all trombone players inspire to be. There ain't nothin like it.

  • The trombone player kills, but Harry's vocal isn't doing it for me on this rare occasion. His piano is bad-ass though.

  • The trombone player kills, but Harry's vocal isn't doing it for me on this rare occasion.

  • and lastly, you agree with queen freaky that his blues playing is stiff. if you really know this song, and the way it was played way back in the 30's, that's exactly the way it was done. bonk bonk bonk . a new orleans funeral march feel. get educated about a topic before you give opinions.

  • sorry "wedding singer". but, speaking of weed, go smoke another fatty and listen to claptons version. i m sure its like so whoah totally farout trippy and like waay better yknow dude?

  • first of all, harry, all tho he may not be as incredible as Pops, does a good job, way beyond the reach of the typical lounge lizard or weeding singer. 2nd the people from new orleans who responded all liked it. 3rd your tastes obviously run to rock (clapton animals MORRISON? come on! etc.) so you re probably not a good judge of whats really jazzy or bluesey. last, you read his dad was DA so you diss him on that acct. well, miles' dad was a dentist, and so was mine. irrelevant.

  • all you guys hurling abuse, never have any hope of having this kind of talent. If you don't like it - don't watch it. You have made fools of yourselves and are just pathetic!

  • the version from In Concert on Broadway is much better

  • Lucien is just doing a job he is paid to do and trying hard not to laugh...

  • Even Eric Clapton and old Dr. John and the Animals from England did better versions...

  • I'm feeling this in D minor love it.

  • Nice voice, nice playing...but I have never seen blues piano played so stiffly.

  • Amazing.. Thanks!

  • because, he is so phony, yeh Lucien is the only good thing about this... Harry, go back to your roots, be the DA, we dont want your jazz music cuz it sucks... we dont want your acting, cuz that sucks too... not the coolest white man on the planet, just imitating and dont do a good job of it either...

  • @VercingetorixXIII

lol... you are right on the money, not hatin', just statin'. Anyone who's heard the real deal knows this isn't it.

  • @VercingetorixXIII Why the fuck did you watch this then? This man is awesome. Go fuck yourself.

  • hes just singing over but has no feeling, didnt touch my heart.... lousy version, no soul, no heartbreak, just singing some words.... look up other version and you will see... think my 12 yr old could show more emotion.... sucks.... he may do better singing older Frank Sinatra songs or something....

  • @VercingetorixXIII

Hey, I'm pretty sure, considering your level of criticism, that YOU are way better singer than him. So, why you don't teach the rest of the world how to do? (not only the theory, I want to see the REAL THING!) Please, post a video of YOURSELF singing, show us YOUR soul and feeling, you can even call your 12 yr old to help you...

  • @fabiodwyer/Harry I dont have to sing my own version to know this one sucks shit, no soul to it at all, just sounds like a lounge lizard wedding singer version... and I dont have to sing myself to know that, I can know that just by looking and listening... apply for the DA job Harry Connick Jr cuz you will never make it as a jazz/blues singer... maybe Frank Sinatra covers are his forte... Harry Connick, the great white hope that has no hope at all, even ask my 12 yr old that, he will tell ya...

  • @VercingetorixXIII

Ok, your opinion, doesn't worth any more or less than mine or than the thousands, maybe million of fans the guy has around the world. Just don't use a 12yrs old kid to support your strong criticism, do it for your own sake, 12yrs old kids don't have life or musical experience enough to be considered a good reference.

  • @fabiodwyer he still sucks...

  • @VercingetorixXIII your comments, about a very good jazz pianist and way beyond lounge lizard quality singer(connick)

are made absurd by calling clapton morrison and the animals versions as superior. unbelievable. no accounting for taste, i know, but in this case, unbelievable.

  • @VercingetorixXIII do you understand jazz? troll yourself to a crappy rap song cuz this song is beyond your incompetent head. the song sounds dead becuase ITS ABOUT DEATH, YOU IDIOT!

    end of line.

  • he has no more talent than a lounge singer or wedding singer...hes just singing the words and has no feeling, didnt touch my heart.... lousy version, no soul, no heartbreak, just singing some words.... look up other version and you will see... think my 12 yr old could show more emotion.... sucks.... he may do better singing older Frank Sinatra songs or something....

  • It takes an acquired ear to appreciate this. So much haters here on youtube. why?

  • An coming from NOLA, Harry Commick out to know better than to spew this shit out into the world...

  • Lucien kills it.

  • Hes playing the notes and singing the words with a nice singing voice but fuck, theres no feeling...

  • @VercingetorixXIII Jim Morrison could carry this song perfectly ...though the booze would not let him remember all the words

  • @vinobody The Animals did better and gave an Irish sound to it...

  • Monkish Piano playing... awesome

  • HARRY BUTCHERS CLASSICS!!! I SHOULD BE CRYING BUT I"M LAUGHING?????????? F U Harry.

  • @bella99 you must know nothing about music then... but to each his own

  • check out my cover people! :)

  • these two are so great together. you can't get this kind of chemistry from just working together- their long friendship since childhood really makes their music "pop" even more. superb musicians!

  • It's all about sending signals from beyond. "Our Communication with the dead is tongued with flames beyond the language of the living"

  • I love everything about him - what a natural talent - kind of like a "nice" Sinatra

  • My favorite song! No sound like that sound from New Orleans!

  • @joceeco AMEN! gotta love Nola. :)

  • This was a SUPERB version of it, are you kidding? Had such personality!

  • Brilliant! Great stuff from both Harry and Lucien Barbarin.

  • Awesome.

  • "She'll never find a sweet man like 'E'". Good one, Harry!

  • HCJr: super-talented, charming...perfect...great rendition of the song, as well!

  • From one Nawlins Piano player to another... Play on Brother Play on

  • This is why I love Harry!

  • Living in KY I sure miss the sound of New Orleans.

  • @cajinyank1957 Yeh living in San Diego, I miss it too, but not this shit...

  • @VercingetorixXIII I live in SD too now...
