This is in fact Dale Jr not Dale Sr this was the opening race of the Busch series at Daytona in 1998. Dale Jr drove the #3 AC Delco Monte Carlo for DEI and won the Busch championship in 98, and 99. He made his cup debut with DEI in the #8 Budweiser chevrolet in 1999 competed in 5 cup races that year before going full time cup racing in 2000.

Ok people...history lesson . Dale sr.'s #3 car was sponsored by Goodwrench. But you can see AC Delco on the hood of this car, making it jr. not sr. Dale sr. won at Daytona in 98, he certainly didn't wreck out. I watched him win.

AC Delco did sponsor Sr. at the exhibition races in Japan Nascar used to have. When Sr. ran the then Busch series, Goodwrench was on the car also.

yah this was deffinatly dale jr there, this aint even in the cup series, this is in the busch grand national series back before dale jr even drove the number 8 in the cup series

@LuricRaja2 jrs car was blue for 1 and for 2 its sponsor was ac delco not good wrench and for 3 jr drove the 3 car in the busch series won back to back championships 1998 and 1999 and how could this be srs car when he won the daytona 500 in 1998 with a black goodwrench car

@gravedigger277 Dale Earnhardt Jr. made two special appearances in 2002 in a #3 Busch Series car: these appearances were at the track where his father died (Daytona) and the track where his father made his first Winston Cup start (Charlotte). this was taken from Jr. Bio right from Jr.'s Bio and race history.

@bmxking46 not true...jr won in the number 3 at daytona in a busch race...it was a rcr car, the oreo car...can't remember what year it was but it was before the wrangler car this year

@bmxking46 I know all of that...I was replying to ur comment about the 3 being retired until jr ran the wrangler car this year at daytona...he ran it one time before at daytona and won with it...it was the oreo car and I think it was the same year sr. passed away

@Sk8BoardTrucker Actually he has ran it more than that since SR's accident. He drove it part time in both 2001 and 2002. He also ran it in 2004 a couple of races, because he swept the night race at bristol that year.

@bmxking46 FACT: Numbers are not retired in NASCAR like other sports. FACT: Richard Childress owns the number and does not run it in Cup, but his grandson Austin Dillon is running it in the Trucks (The #3 Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet). FACT: Jr. ran the number a few times after Sr. death such as at the Busch race in Feb 2002 at Daytona where he won.

@dot350 than why didn't kevin harvick start running a number 3 instead of a 29 the following weeks? how come there has not been a cup car running a number 3? the only time a 3 has shown up were austin dillons truck (richard childress owned) and dale earnhardt jr. (only in busch) if you do not want to technically say its "retired" than you should realize its as good as retired in the cup series out of respect, which it should be.

@bmxking46 Harvick didn't run it because Childress didn't want to run it. Childress owns it and doesn't run it out of respect. In a way it is retired but once Childress no longer owns the number, anyone that wants to use it will be able to. And IMHO he killed the respect thing when he started having his grandson run it...But for the last 10 years since Earnhardt died, Childress has owned the number which is why it hasn't been used, because he "retired" it himself.

@gravedigger277 nascar.com/races/cup/1998/1/data/results_official.html this is the official ending for 1998 note who came first and who is driving #3, so as a resault this is not jr in 98 as the only 3 in the field is sr and he won that year, so the track is wrong as well as the driver, this is a wreck from a different race not the 500

@LuricRaja2 your an idiot, this is dale earnhardt jr in 1998, the day before his dad won the daytona 500, jr stated this in an interview because he had his leg or arm broken (cant remember which) and flew home to northcarolina and missed his dads daytona 500 win. if i come across the interview again ill post it.

Dale Jr took over the #3 car in the Busch Series in 1998 after Steve Park made the move to the Cup Series. This was 1 day before Dale Sr won the 500. He even said during his winner's interview "Dale Jr, I hope you're not too sore". Dale Sr did drive the ACDelco car in Japan in '96 and '97, however, both of those races were on the Suzuka road coarse. This was Jr's 1st race in the 3 car and he landed on Dick Trickle's hood. Oh, and Jr's 1st Busch start was in '96 at Myrtle Beach.

yep. its jr. this happened in the busch series, the next year he ran the same car at homestead-miami and ran the last race of the century logo. i see the die-cast every day and it says junior.

Your fucking stupid, you dont see the AC delco logo on the car, and Sr's flig was towards the wall not the grass. Sr's car was black and Jr's busch car was blue, the car in the vid is blue
