Not really, he was well known for alpha 3 though. He won a few tourny's but we are talking about 3rd. He only won one tourny which was sbo 2006 i think? against K.O and Kokujin in the finals. After that he didnt win shit, probably couldnt even be considered best ken or even top 5 because they're were soo many other good kens. Man check out Deshiken, Chinta, even Nuki's ken is SICK!

He was already famous in Japan because he won national tournaments for Super Turbo, Vampire, and Alpha 3 in the 90s. That's not luck, that's earning it. And there weren't many players better than Daigo at 3S when he was playing. The only player that is for sure better than Daigo, is Kuroda. And that's after Daigo retired. He was actually in semifinals? for SBO when Umenuki won.

He should have saved it to attempt a True Kara Demon, if done correctly there is no escaping that. As you said the regular demon is too easy to escape. The only reason I would do a regular demon over a kara demon is if I needed the 6 frames of invincibility a regular demon provides. For example during wake up if my opponent is doing a meaty attack.

I can't really explain it but you can't combo a raging demon off of some moves and what end up happening is you able to jump it as soon as you recover this happens to me a lot with the cup and the reason for this is because the move is so powerful so it has some drawbacks to balance it out
