I think a curiosity and fascination of the morbid is natural to some degree, but should never excuse insensitivity or a lack of respect for the dead.

@LoomVideos I'm in NYC and don't see fans flocking to The Dakota.. That's on a city street, there's a doorman and no one is allowed to linger for too long. Certainly tourists do comment as they pass but no one is allowed to congregate in front of The Dakota.. For awhile there was a tourist bus that used to pass and The Dakota tenants put a stop to that. All are welcome to congregate, and sing to their hearts content, at the Imagine Circle across the street in Central Park.
@sohooded I visited the Dakota in Sep 09 just on a normal week day and there were people coming along taking photos every 10 minutes, I asked the doorman if it was ok to take a shot and he said it was fine so I did of the entrance, in view from the gate you can see at the park entrance people selling John Lennon paintings and posters etc..........its never ending there. Its a shame to not let the people living there to move on......certainly most fans were congregated at the Imagine plaque....

I would have actually loved to have visited the Cielo home, but would never have acted in the blatantly disrespectful and inappropriate way these men did. On a related note, Sharon's best friend recalled that Sharon herself was very excited about learning of the deaths that occurred in Jay Sebring's Easton Drive home when she stayed there. I think a curiosity and fascination of the morbid is natural to some degree, but should never excuse insensitivity or a lack of respect for the dead.

Certainly tourists do comment as they pass but no one is allowed to congregate in front of The Dakota.. For awhile there was a tourist bus that used to pass and The Dakota tenants put a stop to that. All are welcome to congregate, and sing to their hearts content, at the Imagine Circle across the street in Central Park.

@sohooded I visited the Dakota in Sep 09 just on a normal week day and there were people coming along taking photos every 10 minutes, I asked the doorman if it was ok to take a shot and he said it was fine so I did of the entrance, in view from the gate you can see at the park entrance people selling John Lennon paintings and posters etc..........its never ending there. Its a shame to not let the people living there to move on......certainly most fans were congregated at the Imagine plaque....

@LoomVideos Since your visit the tenants of The Dakota have become even more strict about people bothering them at their prized place of residence. As I told you that put a stop to the tour buses and don't welcome people lingering around the entrance. I can understand how they feel. But, you're right, it's a never ending process. And, I believe by law they can't stop folks from taking photos. People's curiosity about dead icons is somewhat strange and creepy.

@TheJohnlennongirl nobody can imagine the horror of that night in august 69. i was just a kid when all that happens and i,m still fighting with some "images"..BUT...to see 2 grown men, doing what these freaks do!!. first they look at the horrible pic of the victims, then..they imitated the situation!!. and giggling !!..That such a horrible crime, where a 26 years old pregnant women was killed so bruttaly, among others, "brings" this kind of crazy monsters..makes me SICK, REALLY SICK!!. What a bunch of sick freaks of nature. Poor Sharon and her baby and friends suffered unimaginable horror. The knives that plunged into the bodies of these people were over 7 inches long. I can't conceive the pain. Then that asshole lays on the floor in the same way she was found! They are really as bad as the ones that committed these murders that horrible night. Even taking souvenirs from the house. I can't believe it. Folks I have seen her photos and they are sad. She was so small.

@TheJohnlennongirl People are so weird.... Some have paid thousands of dollars to go 12,000 miles down to be married at The Titanic wreck or take souvenirs...human nature is often strange and creepy. They still worship Elvis and James Dean and have desecrated Jim Morrison's tombstone with wild graffiti...
