  • joe bangles was the real name of the guy the song was written about if you think it was dementia how did he know what notes to play u dumbass

  • LMAO AM I THE ONLY ONE TO NOTICE THAT HE SAYS MR JOE BANGLES AT THE END????

  • RE: Comments as to "Mr. Jo Bangles". Yes, he DID say "Jo Bangles" on purpose. He was demonstrating a Spoonerism (look up the definition). He discussed Spoonerisms on an Austin City Limits show, and told the audience, "You learn things like this by coming to these country shows." One of a kind.

  • @justachetfan Yeah almost positive that show is where I heard him do something called "Frog Kissing"! Never heard his voice before, I don't think, let alone sing an entire song. I'd completely forgotten the spoonerism thing but your quote is right on, word for word. There'd been almost an awkward pause after his little discussion of spoonerisms, but when he came out with that line everybody genuinely cracked up. Was like a slam dunk.

  • I have the priviledge to have seen hm in concert

    3 times.....

    (thanks to my parents!!)

    you never forget

  • Food for the soul; It really puts a smile on my face :)

  • How can you not like this?

  • Mr jo bangles!!

  • @extremelystrung Well spotted mate lol. Dementia ???? Still it's brill.

  • Hmm... no-one told him it's "Bo Jangles", not "Joe Bangles"? Nevertheless a VERY enjoyable rendition of this classic. :D

  • if you're interested look like my little brother plays watch?v=sgjs8Glh8Hw

  • super beautifully played, and I want to play the same way as it

  • I was gonna say something about "jo bangles", but it looks like its been said before :p

  • Wow, The fact that he doesn't use a Capo makes me feel a little less than a chump

  • @Scrod99

Well the only real use for a capo is if you are accompanying a singer and want to match their range. Don't be afraid of the fretboard though, it won't bite!

  • magical just magical.

  • 20 dislikes,1,512 likes, nice going mr atkins

  • he's such a perfect player. I wonder if there are any clips of him making mistakes?

  • 2:32 = "Mr.Jobangles"

  • I didnt know george w bush played guitar?

  • @ixlikexscurvy I sincerely hope you're joking....

  • mister go bangles...

  • master!

  • mr jo bangles doesnt look like bush, bush looks like him.

  • wow, its SEAMLESS. for a first time listener of this man. mr jobangles? lol

  • i think he looks too much like bush

  • Comment removed

  • spellbinding.

  • Is it George Atkins or Chet Bush?

    I can't tell.....

    proppa Bo, i tell thee!

  • Thanks,My father and i do agree on something..HUGE talent.

  • Very good, Chet was a master musician!

  • dear lord in heaven, if we could borrow chet for like, ten minutes.... that'd be great.

  • @LJTravis95 Now that is an awesome comment. That would be great indeed.

  • @LJTravis95 Correction: Chet IS god. So can we borrow god for like ten minutes, that'd be great..

  • wat happened to his face?? hahah!! 1:58

  • Nobody thought that this was Bush. Chet "Mr. Guitar" Atkins C.G.P. was a genius. There was no confusion.

  • @kcb3141 i think your missing the point

  • @jackiiii666 Possible, what was the point?

  • Where are the lyrics? Do I have to do everything myself?

    Mr. Bojangles

    Mr. Joe Bangles

    Mr. Joe Bangles

  • Check out this English kid, Ryan Kirwan, singing this,... He is unbelievable!

    youtube.com /watch?v=gczHbszEVWo

  • Can we just listen to the music and stop talking about bush or whatever the hell it is? Get over it. He has similarities in appearance to bush.

  • so i spent whatever freetime i've had over the past week trying to learn this, from a chet atkins book, and i have to say i underestimated how hard this was!

  • just brilliant. i swear Chets right hand is a robot.

  • Best thing

  • My of my favorite songs played in an unexpected lovely manner by the greatest guitarist(according to Segovia) who ever lived. It doesn't get any better than that!

  • amazing how if he didn't have a guitar in his hand you'd think he was a wall street trader by appearance and not a total guitar legend wow ! people don't be deceived by appearances

  • awesome!!! Bo Jangles and Chet Atkins totoally awesome, great post

  • If I could play a guitar like that, I would think I had died and gone to heaven.

  • @MrCordero5 I'm thinking that I have, just listening to him play... he's unbelievable

  • @MrCordero5 im learning to play it just takes practive

  • @MrCordero5

    Me too!!

  • @MrChadman121 Beat you... 51!

  • Awesome guitar picking. Thank you for a July 4th Show, for me. Appreciate your sharing your talent, with others.

  • spellbinding.

  • Perfect!

  • I love Mr Joe Bangles.

  • i love how he masked the wrong note played at 1:57, he's so calm. except for the look he gave haha

  • @mstark7 actually his fingers have minds of their own, so when they played those notes, they surprised him

  • @mstark7 was it really masked.. or was it planned? Hard to say when its a master playing.

  • This the best live guitar musical performance ever. I've loved Chet Atkins since I was a child when my father played his records over and over. Those were the good old days when things were much simpler...

  • Thats George Bush.

  • WONDERFUL!

PS: the strings of his guitar are nylon or steel???¿¿¿

  • @Msaab92 Nylon!!!

  • @biblasrafeiro THANK YOU

  • @Msaab92 nylon ;)

  • WOW! Chet! Who cares about W! This is great!

  • mr "Joe Bangles" - love it!

  • he woke up at 1:57 and realized he's still playing lol

  • @FooeyMcgooey Ha! Good one :D

  • The man playing the guitar is Jerry Jeff walker

  • @bigmac6479 no that is chet atkins playing guitar, song was written by jerry jeff walker

  • people say he looks like george bush he does to a certain point. this country needs both chet and george back!!!!!!. this country is getting ruined by an asshole. sorry but its true

  • @molly1246 He does look a little like W. And I do agree. We need W and Chet back.

  • this guy is theeee God of guitar

  • Miss you Chet!

  • sounds like the town theme from FF1 :D .....umm, he just said jobangles.....

  • @MrChadman121 Of course one would... a great song played by a genius. Caviar and champagne...

  • Is this song played much better on a Classical Guitar?.......... I might have to buy one now

  • @dcrcv It really doesn't matter what kind of guitar it's played on if Chet played it. He could have played it on my Washburn cheapo and it would sound great.

  • i still cant figure out what he does at 0:28

  • man this man is gold but it is funny at 2:34 how he says mister jobangles instead of mister bojangles :P

  • I had to listen a second time to confirm, Chet says MR. JOBANGLES...

Maybe he was just joking around, but he sings it once and then repeats it at the end.

I wonder if Jerry Jeff has ever seen this? Wonderful version, but so strange he would say "Mr. Jobangles." Oops.. Just read the comments and noticed I wasn't the first to notice. Oh well, I guess they're right, he can call it anything he wants to.

  • @KenMoyer He was joking - He says "Mr. Bojangles" at 01:14 so he knows the right title/name.

  • I had to listen a second time to confirm, Chet says MR. JOBANGLES...

  • doe's any one know what kind of nylon guitar chet is playing in this awesome video? or the brand of guitar it is.

  • When you're this good, you can call this song ANYTHING you want to.

  • Chet Atkins...that's all you have to say.

  • beautiful

  • He plays so clean and beautifully, it's feels so good to listen to him playing. I didn't know Chet Atkins, I just discovered him today. I am very happy to find such an awesome guitar player ;)

  • mr joe bangles? lol

this is awesome though, still, hes amazing, and so is this song :)

  • This man is a god.

  • @Getzrules You sir, speak truth.

  • to bad you dont have enough vocabulary to use so you can get a point across without using vulgarity as your primary tool . go away get some education and a little class then come back with intelligent comments. have a nice day

  • He looks like George Bush

    Plays like God

  • what in gods name would possess 18 deaf souls not to like this?

  • @The900custom

So sick of reading these type of comments.

18 out of 1200 is pretty good going. Hardly enough to bring attention to it. I say thank fuck for the 18. What a dull world it would be if everybody liked the same things, especially the same music.

Think of something else to say.

Something original, that hasnt been flogged to death.

  • I love rock and metal yet I love country as well

  • this post doesn't make sense,

@yeerrmmoomm In 1997, Chet was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He battled cancer for the final 30 years of his life

unless we are in 2027 or something

    ??

  • @nin456 Right on nin.. . i just said, '-likely', they dont play the guitar... for the reason some people disliked Chet Atkins. =)

  • @Getzrules ~~~ the guys who disliked Chet Atkins would probably be on to hip-hop, rap, metal rock, etc. And most-likely, they don't know how to play the guitar. =)

I miss Mr. Atkins' music... one of the greatest guitar players!

  • @roughtyder There's nothing wrong with those types of music. Also doesn't matter if people play guitar or not - they can still appreciate Chet!

  • 1:58 I love his face like he didn t mean to change the key

  • @hotamali and how about the seamless adjustment? Awesome pickup.

  • tabs?!?

  • Mr. Joe Bangles

  • @cciemail Mr. Joe Bangles ?????

  • @cciemail he got it right the first verse... and I let it slide during the second... but when the song is over and you call it Joe Bangles... now that's just awesome... oh well he's Chet Atkins... if he wants to call it Joe Bangles he can.

  • I was a performing classical guitarist for many years, mostly playing modern compositions like those of Takamitsu, Britten, Berkeley, and various Brazilian- and jazz-influenced compositions; I also played a lot of Bach's lute suites.

Atkins was a consummate master of the guitar. His playing was and remains absolutely first-rate.

  • lovely!!!lovely!!!lovely!!!lovely!!!lovely!!!lovely!!!

  • 18 people are gagging on yngwie's yngweener

  • at 2:36 does he say mr jobangles?

    isnt it bojangles?

    but who cares???

    its chet atkins...

  • @katyekel Chet had a great sense of humor. When I saw him (2 nights in a row) in 1972, in Indy, he said, "Hi. I'm Chet Atkins. I wanted to tell you that because I get mistaken for Tom Jones a lot." Hilarious!

  • This song reminds me of my grandmother, who passed away earlier last year. This songs reminds me of the way she always loved me and will forever. I love you grandma.

  • 18 people thought it was Goerge Bush :)

  • @ElliotTheMoose4 hahaaha he does look like george bush

  • @ElliotTheMoose4 Acually Bush did a lot of right things a president. Don't get me wrong, he had some faults. However, he deserves more respect than we give him.

  • @sb9715 Honestly just curiosity, but what kind of things are you referring to? :]

  • @BrightOnimicon Alot of Bush's political decisions were good decisions. He didn't try to take care of the people, he ran the government more like a business. He went to war to find Osama. He pulled the nation out of 9-11, and he didn't make the economy any worse. The economy collapsed because of several factors, but mostly due to the congress under the Clinton administration.

  • @sb9715 Ahh right thanks for enlightening me :]

  • @ElliotTheMoose4 lolllll

  • @ElliotTheMoose4 OMG! One of the differences is: Chet Atkins knew his business well and did something good, quite a lot of it!!!

  • @Getzrules

it´s all about guys who think that shredding around the guitar is the real thing ... but they´ll grow up and discover that Chet´s notes are NOT on their guitars :-)

  • check my video response out :)

this song really great to play :D

  • Thank You Chet!

  • a masterpiece

  • Go buy the DVD "The Guitar of Chet Atkins taught by Chet Atkins". You'll find this video and many others on it! It's worth every cent! One of the greatest players ever to pick up a guitar!!!!!!!

  • Mr. Joe Bangles @ 2.33 haha

Chet was one of the best!

    God bless!

    Bill

  • @crayZtaco7 hahaha no.

  • why does he say mr. jobangles ?

  • @andersentaurean

    to be funny. haha.

  • @andersentaurean Lyrics in song / name of song

  • isn't it Mr. Jobangles?

    He says that twice...

  • @SonicBrunoth no, just search for the sng mr bojangles... it's a joke he's doing, u fell for it ;)

  • thumbs up if you dig the headphones!

  • *single tear*

  • which guitar does is it?

  • Dear god, its been a while. Anyways, i'm writing this not to make amends with you, but on behalf of THE WORLD. We will give you Justin Bieber, Usher, Bruno Mars, Paramore, The All American Rejects and Taylor Swift, in exchange for Chet Atkins, Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, George Harrison, Buddy Holly and pre-fat Elvis. Deal???

(ByTheWay, we wanna keep Lady Gaga cause we need comic relief)

    =D

  • @lanc3fight4freedom You should swap the lead singer from paramore out and sub in miley cyrus, that hailey girl is pretty hot....just sayin :P

  • sweet tune:)

  • I herd a version of this song and cant find the artist ,does any one have any ideas?

  • Grew up listening to Chet. Great musician, but most important, he was a good man.

  • does anybody know the make of guitar Chet is playing.

  • @ BeautifulGuitarMusic LMAO ITS JO-BANGLES NOT BO-JANGLES :D

  • The cameraman needs a whipping for not panning to the fretting hand !!!

  • MR. JOBANGLES

A true Legend of the guitar.

Chet is able to put feeling into those strings, only something a true musician can do.

  • hehe nevermind i learned all of it :D. took me a while though, chet atkins was so good. RIP =(

  • Gaaaahhh I've been trying to learn this for like 2 hours. And I've got like 2 parts down. This man was amazing at guitar -.-

  • Anybody else notice he said Mr. Jobangles? But this is a masterpiece. Well done

  • @yeerrmmoomm In 1997, Chet was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He battled cancer for the final 30 years of his life. There is more to admire about the man than his guitar playing. But, there is a heck of a lot to admire about that. He was awesome.

  • @sedavies you said it. ;)

  • @sedavies

Mmm...he died in 2001...that would make 4years. I cannot find what you state? You have something more about this man. That is missed in his bio's ? Happy to get more informed of this wonderfull guitar player.

  • @sedavies 1997 + 30 = ........ 2027 he died?

  • @IMmoreRANDOMthanYOU He got colon cancer in 1973... just bad wording by sedavies.

  • @IMmoreRANDOMthanYOU

I said he was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 1997. I also said he battled cancer for the final 30 years of his life. Both statements are true.

It appears that good data was interpreted illogically.

  • @sedavies First of all, I can't believe we are arguing about this. Secondly, you sad he was diagnosed in 1997. Then you said "He battled cancer for the final 30 years of his life." This implies that he battled cancer for 30 more years after his diagnosis. You should have just left out the word "final."
