I dreamed of becoming a 3D artist, and only I know how hard it was to convince my parents to let me follow a course, and how hard it was to start my career! now that I'm doing what I love and dreamed of, Money has been following me!!
@someguy001001 Yup in Africa people in poverty mix wood with water and eat it to trick their stomach into thinking it's full so that they can go to sleep at night without screaming in the pain.
I worked as a schools career advisor in the mid-2000s, and I often put better-looking, non-academic students in touch with a local modelling agency. I was fired by the Head for ‘incompetence’ after it turned out they also supplied the ‘adult glamour & hardcore’ industry with models & actors.
However, they had to pay for my silence with 2 years’ salary and a fantastic reference as they didn’t want the bad PR to get out. I couldn’t see what the fuss was about…
@StarlightKG What do you mean myth? Of course, choosing a career is an issue no matter where you live, but here in Denmark, almost every job you can get will give you enough money to put food on the table and roof over your head.
@EmilTakagi thats not the myth part! of course every job gives u enough money for food and a decent confortable life. What I mean is that there is a whole ''myth'' arround the life standard and social services in scandinavia that is really overrated by both locals and people living abroad. I left France a year ago and now im working at karolinska institutet in stockholm, and though life is very good, is not any better than france germany holland or other core-european countries.
@StarlightKG Aaah, you live in Sweden then. Well, weather life is good or not when you live in France, largely depend on how much money you have. In France, if you don't have a job or money, your largely on your own, as far as I know. But in Denmark, the Stat will give you economic support, until you get a new job, thus saving your ass from having to live on the street.
I agree, that the whole "happiest country on earth" thing, is a little overrated, but conditions for the poor, are better here.
@EmilTakagi Well actually france is quite like sweden and denmark when it comes to social welfare....though it is severely threatened by sarkozy that we idiots elected president....2 more years to go, my god
I'd have liked this answer more had it been from more than one perspective - ie, salary-winning male head of household with a stay at home mom. It's so limited that way.
hahaha, i havnt seen any of his other videos but i was thinking this is such a conservative 'america is a-ok' video, with the view point that everyone has a house-wife partner they have to consider. haha
Oh I dunno, maybe the housewife comment had something to do with the original question, that asked something like, "whether it's better to choose a job because you love doing it, or should I choose because it will allow me to provide more comfortably for my FAMILY." I see no problem with his "conservative" attitude towards America, cause he is after all an American. You can't possibly expect him to tone down his American views, just because his videos are seen by people of different nations.
i was merely outlining his incredibly conservative view point - that everyone finishes school, chooses their career in pursuit to be a happy couple with a couple kids, dog, white picket fences. it's a dream. thats not real life. although this video doesn't deny there are a lot of career choices out there, it is in denial that there are also a lot of lifestyles.
i wasn't saying he should be american, i was just outlining his complete conservatism. although he isn't denying there are a lot of different career choices, there is denial of different lifestyles.
Huge fan of the show, normally do not leave comments... but couldn't help myself this time!
In Europe, universities/colleges are a 4-year deal (typically)! From the day u graduate from high school u start thinking what college u want to go to not based on how much it will cost (well, that is also an important part... sometimes very important, unfortunately), but based on what u want to do. ISN"T THAT THE IDEA OF HIGHER EDUCATION?!...
...That u start learning something u r mildly interested in so that u can develop in the future!
I can go on forever! My point is that how can u be asking such a question after 4 years of studying in a college, possibly a degree u chose 4 years earlier? It just doens't make a lot of sence to me!
I have something to add to this. Keep it in your pants and don't go having kids before you can afford them.
This way, if you decide something isn't right for you, you can easily switch. Having a kid is like.. having an anchor, except you have to feed and cloth the kid, and change its diaper. And it also whines at certain points for no real good reason.
his voice disturbed me -_-
to much entusiasm for me
