Surgical scalpels or X-acto knives lasts longer and are easier to get hold off. Also the blades for the X-acto knife can be resharpened, saving people some money (to be used to buy more kits). Nice "sprue-cutters" can be bought in the local electronics parts supply store, as well as solder or copper wire which can be used for simulating electrical leads and handholds....Sprue-cutting pliers rule number one must be: NEVER - NEVER use them for anything other than snipping off plastic parts!
Im working on my F/A-4E plane but I have no idea how ot paint. I want to use a model paintbrush which i have and i want to use a special model paint specialized for model painting which I have. But I have no Idea how to paint it. Please help!
I have a EXCEL Pro knife with replaicable blades. Do you guys have a blade that you guys recommend becouse i want to know more modeling tecneqes (sorry bad spellying in rush)
I am currently working on Tamiya's F4U-1A Corsair and it's my first time with photo-etched parts. What do you use to glue the photo-etch to the plastic? All I have right now is Tamiya Extra Thin Cement and Plastruct Plastic Weld and neither work at all. Should I just use super glue? But then some of the pieces are to be fitted on the clear canopy. Please reply.
if you ask me (im speaking for model cars, dont know about planes) plastics are best for practicing since you can get them dirt cheap but resin is king for the best look. but still there are some pretty dang nice models made from plastic
I used to think sprue cutters weren't worth it, but all it takes is one miscut and you'll wish you had them. They speed things up and minimize mistakes.

Awesome!!! I particularly like Gundam, so the sand paper I use are also in different grading scales(400, 600, 800, etc).

Most of the time I just use an xacto knife, I don't see justifying the expense of an overpriced diagonal wire cutter.
